Job Summary:

Do you love working with children in a fun, safe, and active outdoor environment?

As a Summer Camp Counselor at Crested Butte Mountain Resort, you will play a key role in creating engaging and memorable camp experiences for children ages 5–14 across our Mountain Adventures and Camp CB programs.

Counselors are responsible for planning and facilitating a wide range of age-appropriate activities. For our Mountain Adventures campers (ages 7–14), this includes outdoor experiences such as climbing, hiking, biking, archery, disc golf, paddle boarding, ropes course, and more. For our Camp CB campers (ages 5–7), counselors create a fun, supportive environment focused on activities like arts and crafts, story time, games, playground time, chairlift rides, and base area exploration.

This role requires a strong focus on safety, organization, and positive engagement while supporting the individual needs of each child. As a representative of Crested Butte Mountain Resort, counselors are expected to uphold company values with integrity and help create an exceptional experience for guests and families.

Full-time and part-time positions available.

 

Job Specifications:

  • Starting Wage: $21.00/hr - $23.42/hr
  • Employment Type: Summer Seasonal 2026 
  • Shift Type: Full Time and Part Time hours available
  • Minimum Age: At least 18 years of age

Job Responsibilities:

  • Plan and lead day camp activities, ensuring a fun and safe experience for children ages 5-14
  • Transport children from Camp CB to activity locations.
  • Maintain a high level of organization, with thorough planning and flexibility to adapt as needed.
  • Demonstrated physical fitness and stamina to actively participate in outdoor activities such as climbing, hiking, biking, and other adventure pursuits.
  • Exhibit self-motivation and initiative, taking on responsibilities without constant supervision.
  • Foster teamwork and collaboration, both within the day camp team and with other resort departments.
  • Communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing, with campers, parents, and colleagues.
  • Maintain a positive and can-do attitude, contributing to a supportive and uplifting camp environment.

 

Job Requirements: 

  • A genuine passion for working with children in outdoor settings
  • Strong organizational skills, with the ability to plan ahead and adapt to changing circumstances
  • Self-motivation and independence in carrying out assigned tasks
  • Excellent teamwork abilities, fostering collaboration within the camp team and across departments
  • A positive attitude and an eagerness to contribute to a positive camp environment
  • Ability to pass a background check
  • CPR and First Aid certification 

 

The expected pay range is $21.00/hr - $23.42/hr. This is the pay range we reasonably expect to pay for this position. Individual compensation decisions are based on a variety of factors.
