Job Summary: 

The Assistant Manager of Tubing Operations serves as a key operational leader for Wilmot Mountain's tubing operation. This position is responsible for the daily management, operational execution, and overall success of the tubing facility,including staffing, facility readiness, guest service, risk management, equipment maintenance, and employee development.This role is responsible for fostering a culture where employee and guest safety is the highest priority while delivering an exceptional guest experience. The Assistant Manager partners closely with Lift Maintenance, Snowmaking, Grooming, Product
Sales & Service, Retail, Food & Beverage, and other resort departments to ensure safe, efficient, and seamless operations throughout the tubing season.
The successful candidate will be a visible, hands-on leader who models accountability, teamwork, operational excellence, and guest service while maintaining the highest standards of safety and employee engagement.

Job Responsibilities: 

Safety Leadership

  • Champion a culture where the safety of employees and guests is the highest operational priority.
  • Ensure compliance with all company safety standards, Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), emergency action plans, operational logs, and risk management practices.
  • Proactively identify, assess, and mitigate hazards within the tubing operation.
  • Conduct safety inspections and ensure corrective actions are implemented promptly.
  • Lead emergency response efforts and ensure employees are trained and prepared to respond appropriately to incidents.

Operational Leadership

  • Lead the daily operation of the Wilmot Mountain Tubing facility, ensuring operational excellence, efficiency, and exceptional guest experiences.
  • Oversee opening, operating, and closing procedures for the tubing operation.
  • Ensure all facilities, equipment, signage, and operating areas are maintained to company standards.
  • Prepare the tubing hill and supporting facilities for seasonal opening, including infrastructure setup, operational readiness, safety inspections, and facility preparation.
  • Ensure compliance with all daily, weekly, monthly, and annual inspection requirements and documentation.

Tubing Hill Development and Maintenance

  • Collaborate regularly with Lift Maintenance, Grooming, and Snowmaking teams to build, shape, improve, and maintain tubing lanes throughout the season.
  • Monitor lane conditions and work collaboratively with support departments to ensure optimal tubing conditions, operational efficiency, and guest satisfaction.
  • Assist in identifying operational improvements that enhance safety, capacity, and the overall guest experience.

Team Leadership and Development

  • Lead, develop, and coach a team of 40+ seasonal employees.
  • Assist with recruiting, onboarding, training, and employee development.
  • Conduct performance evaluations and provide ongoing coaching and feedback.
  • Promote employee engagement while fostering a positive, inclusive, and team-oriented work environment.
  • Partner with Human Resources and senior leadership on employee relations, performance management, and disciplinary matters as necessary.

Financial and Administrative Responsibilities

  • Managing labor, payroll, scheduling, and departmental budgets.
  • Monitor staffing levels to meet operational needs while maintaining financial accountability.
  • Manage inventory, supplies, equipment, and operational resources within the tubing operation.
  • Maintain accurate operational records, inspections, reports, and documentation.

Cross-Department Collaboration

  • Build and maintain strong working relationships with leaders across Wilmot Mountain.
  • Collaborate with Product Sales & Service, Retail, and Food & Beverage leadership teams to enhance departmental operations and create a seamless resort experience for guests.
  • Partner with other operational departments to proactively address guest needs, operational challenges, and opportunities for continuous improvement.
  • Support resort-wide initiatives and contribute to a collaborative leadership culture focused on delivering outstanding guest experiences.

Guest Experience

  • Serve as a visible leadership presence within the tubing area.
  • Ensure guests receive exceptional service and a safe, enjoyable experience.
  • Address guest concerns professionally and resolve issues effectively through service recovery practices.
  • Promote a welcoming environment that encourages repeat visitation and reinforces Wilmot Mountain's commitment to world-class guest service.

Additional Responsibilities

  • Be familiar with and adhere to all company policies, procedures, and operational best practices.
  • Safely operate company vehicles and equipment as required.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned to support business needs and operational success.

Job Requirements

  • Must be at least 18 years of age.
  • Minimum one year of guest service experience.
  • Minimum one year of leadership experience in a dynamic operational environment.
  • Demonstrated commitment to safety and operational excellence.
  • Strong leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to effectively lead teams in a fast-paced outdoor environment.
  • Ability to stand and walk for extended periods.
  • Ability to work outdoors for up to 10 hours in various weather conditions.
  • Ability to lift and carry up to 100 pounds.
  • Excellent guest service and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to read, write, speak, and understand English fluently.
  • Ability to work the full length of the winter season.
  • Valid driver's license and satisfactory motor vehicle record.

The expected pay range is $25.00 - $28.60. This is the pay range we reasonably expect to pay for this position. Individual compensation decisions are based on a variety of factors.
