Help create history at Wilmot Mountain as Vail Resorts bridges 75 years of skiing tradition with new state-of-the-art lifts, snowmaking, renovated lodges, and terrain parks, all while honoring the important legacy of the ski area. Be a part of the tremendous Wilmot Mountain brand recognized widely among Chicago and Milwaukee skiers and snowboarders, and also part of the Vail Resorts' family that's passionate about providing world-class experiences at every property. Wilmot Mountain truly is where Epic begins for skiers of all levels and can be where your epic career begins, too.

The Mountain

In 1938, Walter Stopa leased the property from a farmer for skiing and called it Wilmot Hills.  With rubber hoses, aluminum pipes and sprinkler heads, along with water and air, Wilmot Mountain was the first to master the art of snowmaking. Chairlifts arrived in the late 1960’s and over the years a full-service dining area, Terrain Park and tubing hill were added.  Now with more than 20 runs, Two Terrain Parks and an all new beginner’s area with magic carpets, Wilmot Mountain has something for everyone.  In January 2016, Vail Resorts welcomed Wilmot Mountain into its Epic family of resorts. Vail Resort’s $13.2 million of renovations completed in the fall of 2016 at Wilmot Mountain will bridge 80 years of skiing tradition with new lifts, state-of-the-art snowmaking, dedicated Children’s Learning Center, base lodge transformation, and expanded terrain parks.  The unique runs at Wilmot Mountain offer varied terrain for all skiers and snowboarders; from novices stepping onto the snow for the very first time to experts learning to further push themselves and their sport. Wilmot Mountain is truly the place where Epic begins.
