Title:  Rock Wall Attendant

Job Summary: 

The Rock Wall Attendant supports daily operations at Stowe Rocks Climbing Gym by creating a safe, welcoming, and organized environment for guests and staff. This role is responsible for monitoring climbing activities, supporting guest check-in and orientation, maintaining cleanliness and equipment readiness, and helping deliver a positive experience for climbers of different ages and skill levels.

• Starting Wage: $20.00/hr
• Employment Type: Summer Seasonal 2026
• Shift Type: Part Time hours available
• Minimum Age: At least 18 years of age

Job Responsibilities:  

Guest experience:

• Welcome guests in a friendly and professional manner
• Provide clear instructions on climbing wall rules, procedures, and expectations
• Help guests feel comfortable and supported during their visit
• Answer questions about climbing sessions, equipment, and general facility use
• Maintain a positive, approachable presence in the gym at all times

Safety and Supervision:

• Monitor the climbing area closely to help ensure safe participation
• Enforce safety rules, gym procedures, and staff direction consistently
• Assist with harness fitting, safety checks, and basic orientation as trained
• Identify and communicate risks, concerns, or equipment issues promptly
• Respond appropriately to incidents, concerns, or emergency situations according to procedure

Operations and Facility Support:

• Help open, operate, and close the climbing gym according to daily procedures
• Keep the facility clean, organized, and ready for guests
• Inspect and maintain assigned equipment and report wear or damage
• Support daily documentation, logs, and operational checklists as required
• Assist with setup, breakdown, and general flow of climbing programs or sessions

Teamwork and Communication:

• Work closely with supervisors and teammates to support smooth daily operations
• Communicate clearly about guest needs, safety issues, and operational updates
• Adapt to changing guest volume, schedules, and staffing needs
• Support a team culture that is professional, helpful, and guest-focused 

Job Qualifications:

• Strong communication and customer service skills
• Ability to remain attentive and calm in a fast-paced environment
• Reliable, punctual, and able to follow established procedures
• Comfortable enforcing rules and maintaining safety standards
• Ability to work as part of a team while also staying self-directed during assigned tasks
• Willingness to learn climbing gym procedures, safety expectations, and equipment use
  

Preferred Qualifications:

• Previous experience in guest service, recreation, climbing, or hospitality
• Experience working in a safety-focused environment
• Basic knowledge of climbing gym operations or belay systems, if required for the role
• Ability to stand and move throughout the shift
• Ability to lift and carry equipment or supplies within job expectations
• Ability to work in an active, guest-facing environment
• Ability to respond quickly to safety concerns or operational needs

Work Environment:

• Indoor climbing gym environment
• Evening, weekend, and holiday availability may be required based on business needs
• Frequent interaction with guests, children, families, and team members
