Job Summary

The Director of Skier Services leads Okemo's Ski and Snowboard School operations, Child Care, Competition Teams, and Guest Services. Specific focuses include leadership management and development of teams; budget responsibilities including revenue and expense oversight and forecasting; capital project coordination; communication and interaction with guests; and safety performance. As a member of the resort’s senior leadership team, the position assists in the development, communication, and implementation of resort goals and initiatives.

 

This leader should have a senior level of operations management experience with a proven ability to lead complex teams in multi-location environments. This leader will be passionate and innovative, with demonstrated skills around developing and supporting strategies to bring the resort vision mission to life. A strong ability to develop talent and build teams, combined with strategic vision and solution-oriented thinking are essential for success in this position. As a member of the Resort’s senior leadership team, the position contributes to the development, communication, and implementation of the resort’s strategic direction, goals, and initiatives. Articulate and consistent communication and interaction with guests and community members are additional portions of the positions senior leadership expectation.

 

Essential Job Responsibilities:

  • Direct and monitor quality of overall Ski and Snowboard School and Skier Services department’s products and staff to ensure exceptional guest experience, alignment with Resort and Company goals, financial success, and development of future products/programs.
  • Lead Managers and Supervisors to ensure accountability for the quality of products and services for the guests and employees. Provide feedback, growth opportunities, leadership opportunities and appropriate training to develop leaders. 
  • Drive a strong culture of safety.
  • Stay current on guest and employee health and safety regulations, including MSDS standards, universal precautions, child abuse guidelines, background checks, and emergency response plans.      
  • Actively seek information about industry trends, competitions, and events, and remain involved with professional organizations (ISIA, PSIA/AASI).
  • Partner with other Resort Ski School Directors on best practices to develop and implement best practices, including program offerings; safety initiatives; instructor training, etc.
  • Monitor and maintain quality and appearance of buildings, sales facilities - both on mountain and at the base area, organizational yard, signage and program imaging, teaching terrain, and locker rooms.

 

Job Requirements: 

  • High School Diploma or Equivalent
  • Experience as a leader of a multi-outlet function/business unit
  • English proficiency.
  • Strong leadership, diplomacy, and communication skills.
  • High level of emotional intelligence and self-awareness.
  • Strong business and financial acumen.
  • Competent skiing/riding skills.

 

Preferred:

  • PSIA/AASI or teaching instructional certification with prior teaching and supervisory experience.
  • Experienced with Payroll/HR/POS software application/systems: PeopleSoft, RPOS, Microsoft Office, Tableau.
  • College degree in a related field.

 

​The expected pay range is $85,863.60 - $110,362.73 + annual bonus + equity. This is the pay range we reasonably expect to pay for this position. Individual compensation decisions are based on a variety of factors.
