Job Summary:

Service is the foundation of everything we stand for at Vail Resorts, and our Food and Beverage team is no exception to creating this experience of a lifetime. The Assistant Restaurant Manager is an integral part of operations, assisting the Restaurant Manager in daily oversight of Coleman Brook Tavern, ensuring the highest standards of service, quality, and guest satisfaction. This position promotes teamwork, consistency, and operational excellence across both daily restaurant operations and banquets/special events.

 

Job Specifications: 

  • Starting Wage: $52,000.00 - $63,800.00 

  • Employment Type: Year Round (10-month)

Job Responsibilities:

Restaurant Operations

  • Assist the Food & Beverage Manager in training, coaching, and supervising all restaurant staff.
  • Lead by example for service standards, menu knowledge, beverage education, and service excellence.
  • Maintain a strong presence on the floor and in the kitchen to ensure guest satisfaction and operational success.
  • Support the planning and execution of banquets and special events, including staffing, setup, service, and post-event follow-up.
  • Ensure all banquets and events maintain the same high standards as daily restaurant operations, delivering exceptional guest experiences.
  • Prepare and review management reports including revenue accounting, tip disbursements, scheduling, payroll, inventory, and manager logs.
  • Achieve company objectives in sales, service, quality, and facility appearance through effective training and a positive work environment.
  • Ensure compliance with sanitation, safety, and maintenance standards.
  • Schedule labor according to business activity while maintaining labor cost objectives.
  • Maintain compliance with all local, state, and federal regulations related to health, safety, and labor.

 

Job Requirements:

Required:

  • Minimum 3 years of restaurant experience, with at least one year in a managerial role.
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Must be able to lift and carry 40+ lbs.
  • Fluent in English.
  • Excellent leadership, problem-solving, and multitasking skills.
  • Knowledge of safety and sanitation standards.
  • Availability to work weekends and holidays, including:
  • Thanksgiving
  • Christmas Day
  • December 26 – January 4
  • Presidents’ Day Weekend
  • Other holidays as requested

Preferred:

  • ServSafe Certification (or ability to obtain).
  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience.
  • Experience in a high-volume or banquet/event environment.

 

The expected pay range is $52,000.00 - $63,800.00. This is the pay range we reasonably expect to pay for this position. Individual compensation decisions are based on a variety of factors.
