Job Summary:

Maintain all aspects of the property, with a strong emphasis on asset maintenance. Train the engineering staff to be competent with brand standards, guest service calls, safety and job function.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Direct the daily activities of the department. Plan, organize and control work, communicate goals, and schedule employees to ensure proper coverage. Communicate and enforce policies, procedures, rules and standards.
  • Educate/train associates on emergency procedures and safety issues to ensure compliance with federal, state and local laws and regulations for the protection of guest and associates.
  • Train associates on brand standard requirements for the department and set goals to achieve a pass grade on all audits.
  • Ensure proper functioning of facilities through ongoing inspection and maintenance including snow removal in assigned areas.
  • Ensure at the start of every shift, 10 -15 minutes meeting are held to communicate information and train or discuss guest issues, brand standards, safety, other department issues and to celebrate successes.
  • Resolve guest/employee complaints to meet brand standards and guest satisfaction and maintain a positive guest/employee attitude at all times.
  • Oversee the physical operations of the property including maintenance and repair of all interior and exterior of buildings.
  • Oversee schedules, time management software (Legion), and proper time administration (PeopleSoft).
  • Set priorities for the team to ensure task completion.
  • Monitor and maintain cleanliness, sanitation and organization of all assigned work areas.
  • Ensure the achievement of the property’s (preventative, planned and schedule) maintenance programs to meet brand standards.
  • Monitor operating budget and control all expenses within all areas of the department. Report end of period variances as required by property or corporate.
  • Coordinate work activities with supervisor.
  • As requested help supervise capital projects to meet scope of work requirement and to ensure timely completion of project within. budget and established future maintenance commitments.
  • Purchase all parts, supplies, tools, materials and equipment related to engineering through direct contact with sales representatives,
  • Inspect or have inspected purchases delivered to assure price, quality, consistency and warranties.
  • Maintain inventory of all parts, equipment and supplies.
  • Monitor department productivity and efficiency with automated system (FMX, Maintain X) or manually based on the work order (WO) system, weekly, biweekly or monthly as required by supervisor.
  • Good technical skills in lawn sprinkler system and controls, electrical, mechanical, plumbing, painting, and carpentry.
  • Implement OSHA, EPA and ADA guidelines and programs. Abide by all safety rules and regulations per corporate policies State and Federal codes
  • Train the most competent to be successor.
  • Any other duties related to property engineering.

 

Job Requirements:

  • 2-3 Years technical school or formal technical training
  • 2-3 years at a large resort property or equivalent experience in construction, cruise ship and other building industries.
  • 1-2 years;  experience as a supervisor necessary.
  • Valid driving license. Accreditation and certification an advantage.
  • Microsoft Office
  • Read write and speak English Fluent
  • Good communications Skills, Good administrative and good leadership skills
  • Willing to work with changing shift schedules as necessary to meet business needs
  • Indoor and outdoor work required
  • Some work areas may be noisy
  • Must be familiar with MSDA, OSHA, and lockout/tagout procedures
  • Uses computer systems, various tools, and logs
  • Must be available on holidays, weekends, and evenings
  • Required to attend mandatory Vail trainings

 

The expected pay range is $52,000.00 - $55,000.00. This is the pay range we reasonably expect to pay for this position. Individual compensation decisions are based on a variety of factors.
