Job Summary:
The Golf Operations Manager – Northstar California Golf Course is responsible for daily supervision of Pro Shop, Outside Services, Marshals/Starters, and oversite of guest experience. Leads all staff in providing the highest quality guest service, resort and local information, and facilitating all golf course needs in the following areas, but not limited to; scheduling tee times, purchase ordering, retail sales and inventory controls, scheduling all staff based on budget and forecast.. The Golf Shop Manager – Northstar Golf Course complies with all Vail Resorts policies when executing budget management, employee relations, audit procedure, and company policies.
Job Responsibilities:
- Employee Management – Hire and train staff; develop staff potential, coach and discipline when needed; conduct mid-season and end-of-season evaluations.
- Financial Management – Prepare and monitor budget utilizing daily labor reports,monthly P & L financials, and other resource websites and software provided by Vail Resorts. Create staff schedule based on current budget, expected golf rounds, incoming group report, and anticipated business volumes.
- SOX compliances – Comply with Vail Resorts policies with card handling, audit, and all other sales transactions.
- Guest Service – Have a high proficiency in Northstar California service offerings; resolve guest complaints and answer inquiries in a timely manner.
- Purchasing – Utilize required procurement tools for office and operating supplies ordering. Utilize Jonas for accurate retail receiving and inventory control.
- Golf Operating Systems – Must retain the highest knowledge of the Jonas operating system and other software utilized for operations.
- Collaborate and cooperate with Northstar Lodging, other Hospitality divisions, and the partnership with the overall Northstar Resort. Create relations and maintain with contracted companies such as Golf Now, Quick 18, and a variety of outsourced companies essential to golf operations. Effectively coordinate efforts to provide excellent guest service to internal and external departments.
- Group Sales- Year round management of booking new/existing group sales clients for retention with golf groups year over year.
- Retail Management – Maintain retail inventory controls and develop full understanding of product line.
- Provide support to Teaching Professional in any all golf instruction offerings. Coordinate with Assistant Golf Professional with all adult clinics, junior golf schools, and private lessons.
- Other duties as assigned.
Job Qualifications:
- High school diploma, Bachelor degree and/or PGA preferred.
- Four to six years guest service related work experience.
- Four years’ experience managing staff and budget preparation.
- PGA preferred or equivalent golf management degree.
- Proficient in Windows, Microsoft Office – Outlook, Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and ability to learn other programs used for operations.
- Ability to read and comprehend complex instructions; ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to high-end clientele andemployees in other departments.
- Have good understanding of overall golf knowledge. Financial background with ability to establish budgets, read reports, and forecasting.
- C ertified golf instructor preferred but not required.
The expected pay range is $71,042.40 - $83,416.99. This is the pay range we reasonably expect to pay for this position. Individual compensation decisions are based on a variety of factors.
