Job Summary:
We are hiring a Team Lead – Ski Lift Maintenance Technician to help guide our lift maintenance team and ensure the reliable, safe, and efficient operation of all aerial and surface lift systems. This is a hands-on leadership role responsible for coordinating daily tasks, mentoring team members, and setting the standard for quality and safety in all maintenance activities. The ideal candidate brings strong technical expertise, leadership skills, and a passion for working in the mountain environment.
Job Specifications:
Starting Wage: $25.00/hr - $41.47/hr

Job Responsibilities:
Lead day-to-day maintenance operations for assigned lifts and crews
Perform and supervise preventative maintenance, inspections, and repairs on ski lift systems
Troubleshoot and resolve mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic issues
Ensure work is completed in compliance with ANSI B77.1, OSHA regulations, local regulations and Vail Resorts safety standards, policies and procedures
Provide mentorship, guidance, and on-the-job training to lift maintenance technicians
Assist in creating daily, weekly, and seasonal work schedules
Conduct shift meetings, assign tasks, and ensure accurate completion of logs and documentation
Communicate regularly with lift operations, safety, and mountain management teams
Support seasonal tasks including tower work, sheave and grip maintenance, line inspections, and load testing
Promote and model a strong culture of safety, teamwork, and accountability
Job Requirements:
3–5 years of lift maintenance experience in a ski resort or related mechanical field
Demonstrated leadership abilities and experience coordinating teams or projects
Strong working knowledge of lift systems and maintenance practices
Familiarity with ANSI B77, OSHA, and lift manufacturer standards
Ability to diagnose and repair mechanical and electrical issues independently
Physically fit and able to work at heights and in harsh weather conditions
Able to lift and carry 50 pounds
Must have or ability to obtain a valid US driver’s license
Intermediate ski/snowboard ability preferred
Experience training or mentoring junior technicians preferred
Rope inspection, NDT, or electrical troubleshooting certifications preferred
Strong communication and problem-solving skills preferred
Proficiency with maintenance tracking software or CMMS systems preferred
Welding/fabrication or PLC experience is a plus preferred
The expected pay range is $25.00/hr - $41.47/hr. This is the pay range we reasonably expect to pay for this position. Individual compensation decisions are based on a variety of factors.
