Zip Line Guides provide a safe environment for the guest, while creating a positive experience.  Guides are responsible for, but not limited to; equipment inspections and logs, leading zip line tours, zip line evacuation/rescues from the zip line course, communicating safety and other information to guests, proper use and implementation of equipment, cleaning and maintaining zip line area, and assisting at the Adventure Park.  In winter seasons, Guides will also be trained and expected to deliver Snow bike licensing/lessons.  Guides must attend a 3 day preliminary guide training course.  Employment is conditional upon passing and completing this course. Guides must be 18 or older.

 

Guide 1 - Each guide 1 must attend and a minimum of 24 hours of training on the Crested Butte Zip Tour course.  Prospective guides must pass with a score of at least 90% and complete all required skill sets.  A Guide 1 must show competency in an understanding of basic program facilitation and technical skills.  All guides must be able to demonstrate operational skills and rescue techniques.

 

Guide 2 – A Guide 2 is able to demonstrate an advanced understanding of the challenge course, facilitation, and technical skills.  Any Guide 2 must possess a total of 48 hours of training and a total of 300 hours of successful course experience.  24 of the 48 hours of training must be at the Crested Butte Zip Tour course.  A minimum of 125 hours as a “Lead Guide” is required (within the 300 hour requirement).  They must demonstrate the ability to lead rescue or emergency situations.  Guide 2 possesses the ability to mentor and train other staff as needed.  A Guide 2 has an exceptional safety record and provides an excellent guest experience.

 

Guide 3 – Total training hours for a Guide 3 will be at least 72 hours, 48 of the hours must be at the Crested Butte Zip Tour course.  A minimum of 1000 hours of successful course experience is required for this level.  A Guide 3 is able to fully assist in all aspects of training.  Their knowledge of the course and emergency management is exceptional and complete.  They are expected to mentor other guides on guest service and facilitation techniques.  A Guide 3 will be able to implement and lead emergency and rescue situations. 

 

Essential Job Functions:

  • Adhere to all safety guidelines and zip line procedures.
  • Perform daily inspections and complete equipment logs
  • Successfully and safely operate all zip features
  • Perform tower evacuations and rescues
  • Create positive interactions with guests, informing them on zip line safety and regulations.
  • Communicates all concerns and feedback successfully with supervisor and manager.
  • Performs all job duties and policies as outlined in the Crested Butte Zip Line Manual.
  • Provides an excellent guest service experience.

 

Job Qualifications:

  • Outdoor Leadership Education Experience Preferred.
  • Fluent English Skills Required.
  • Zip Line Experience and Outdoor Commercial Guiding Experience Preferred.
  • Must be able to pass a Background Check.
