Job Summary:

The Assistant Manager of Ski Patrol supports the Patrol Team and Patrol Senior Manager in all functions. With an emphasis on safety, this includes staffing, training, scheduling, day-to-day operations, interdepartmental relations, and guest service. The Assistant Manager of Ski Patrol is responsible for implementing programs toward the safety of our guests and employees, supervising medical aid, snow safety, rope rescue, lift evacuation and accident investigation. The job requires strong leadership qualities, and creative problem-solving.

 

 

Job Specifications: 

  • Starting Wage: $74,000 - $86,000

Job Responsibilities:

  • To support the development, coaching and best practices of a high performing ski patrol team
  • To help align the patrol leadership team and line patrol with Vail Resorts goals, values and core competencies
  • Be a leader in the effort to improve safety within Ski Patrol and the resort as a whole with the goal of reducing/eliminating worker and guest injury
  • Support and provide oversight for patrol supervisors in their daily and seasonal operational duties.
  • Ensures accountability to organizational policies and the highest possible work standards.
  • Support budget planning and help track performance to expectations
  • Create a positive work culture that commits to providing an Experience of a Lifetime for each and every employee and guest
  • Support operational excellence through continuous communication within Patrol department and Mountain Operations
  • Supports departmental training programs
  • Coordinates with Patrol Manager and Health and Safety dept to lead a specialized team of accident investigators
  • Be a leader in the Slope Safety program and support the best practices in regards to marking and padding
  • Supports Patrol Leadership staff with candidate/apprentice programs
  • Other duties as assigned

 

Job Requirements:

  • High school education or equivalent, some college preferred
  • 5 years ski patrol experience
  • 3 years or more experience in a leadership role preferred
  • Valid driver’s license, healthcare provider CPR, Colorado EMT Certificate or higher level.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, Teams etc.
  • Strong communication skills
  • Strong financial management, leadership and team building skills, expert skiing/riding ability, must be able to work in extreme weather conditions (winter/summer)
  • Positive, solutions-oriented leadership practices
  • Industrial climbing experience preferred
  • Avalanche Mitigation experience and CO type 1 Explosives Permit preferred.

 

The expected pay range is $74,000 - $86,000. This is the pay range we reasonably expect to pay for this position. Individual compensation decisions are based on a variety of factors.
