Job Summary:

The Rental Operations Manager (ROM) is a regional operational leader responsible for driving rental shop performance, operational excellence, inventory accuracy, shrink reduction, and execution consistency across a defined group of stores. This role ensures that VRR operational standards, safety practices, inventory controls, and service expectations are executed at a high level. ROMs partner closely with market leadership, store leaders, Product Operations, the Retail Product Team, Gear Enablement, Distribution Centers, IT support, and centralized VRR leadership to deliver results and enable an outstanding Member/Guest experience.

This role reports to the Sr. Manager of Rental Operations. 

 

Job Specifications:  

  • Starting Wage: $58,461.98 - $77,126.78 + annual bonus

Job Responsibilities:

  • Drive execution of VRR operational standards including rental workflow, throughput, queue management, ASTM compliance, labeling systems, scanning compliance, and service recovery.
  • Lead seasonal readiness processes—pre‑season setup, peak‑period planning, labor alignment, fleet deployment, and post‑holiday recovery.
  • Conduct structured store visits focused on coaching, operational assessments, KPI alignment, and continuous improvement.
  • Own inventory accuracy across assigned stores, including cycle counts, annual inventory events, variance analysis, corrective action planning, and HSAP oversight.
  • Manage seasonal fleet movement, equipment realignment, and recovery plans to maximize asset utilization.
  • Ensure labeling, scanning, and barcoding standards are consistently executed in all stores.
  • Analyze operational and inventory KPIs to identify performance gaps and build targeted action plans.
  • Monitor throughput, tuning readiness, fulfillment accuracy, and operational consistency across stores.
  • Surface operational risks and coordinate mitigation strategies during high‑volume periods.
  • Coach Store Managers, Assistant Managers, and emerging leaders to strengthen operational discipline, accountability, and floor leadership.
  • Support rollout of training programs and reinforce hands‑on skill development (boot fitting, workflow management, scanning compliance, tuning basics, rental systems usage).
  • Promote a culture of consistency, recognition, communication, and operational excellence.
  • Act as the operational connector between stores, Product Operations, IT, the Retail Product Team, Distribution Centers, and centralized VRR Rental leadership.
  • Partner with the Retail Product Team and Gear Enablement to provide field insights, inform tool and process enhancements, and support deployment of new rental‑related products or systems.
  • Escalate, track, and support resolution of IT system issues impacting rental shop operations.
  • Drive safety initiatives, including risk mitigation, equipment inspection standards, and adherence to Journey to Zero operational controls.
  • Other duties as assigned.

 

Job Requirements:

  • Education: Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience
  • Work Experience: 5 years of retail/rental industry experience
  • Computer Skills: Proficient in Microsoft Office applications
  • Language(s) Skill: Communicates fluently in spoken and written English
  • Other Requirements: Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Self-motivated with the ability to multi-task

Preferred:

  • Prior supervisory experience
  • Familiarity with the rental industry

 

The expected pay range is $58,461.98 - $77,126.78 + annual bonus. This is the pay range we reasonably expect to pay for this position. Individual compensation decisions are based on a variety of factors.
