Job Summary

The Vice President of Food and Beverage Operations is responsible for leading and overseeing the Food and Beverage Center of Excellence (F&B COE) to drive optimal performance, sustained growth, and scalable impact. This role manages strategic initiatives designed to deliver an Experience of a Lifetime through a diverse operational portfolio, building on the established success of the F&B COE. 

 

Exemplifying Vail Resorts’ leadership competencies and values, this individual will inspire and guide the F&B COE team, fostering a culture of continuous improvement and innovation, guest satisfaction, and operational excellence. 

 

Key Job Responsibilities

 

Business Performance and Strategic Planning: 
Lead performance reviews to assess results, identify opportunities, and develop strategic plans that drive growth and efficiency. Create scalable solutions that enhance organizational impact and ensure consistency in service delivery across resorts. 

 

Change Leadership: 
Guide teams through organizational change, fostering adaptability and resilience across large-scale operations. 

 

Guest Experience and Operational Excellence: 
Elevate guest satisfaction by establishing scalable service standards and comprehensive training programs. Implement best practices to enhance efficiency and service quality. 

 

Innovation and Technology: 
Develop and champion an innovation strategy, including a technology roadmap, to support long-term growth and scalability of F&B operations. 

 

Talent Strategy: 
Oversee and implement a robust talent strategy to develop a high-performing, engaged workforce that drives consistent execution and quality outcomes. 

 

Stakeholder Collaboration: 
Work closely with resort and corporate teams to align on goals, share best practices, and support enterprise-wide initiatives. 

 

Mountain Division Leadership: 
Contribute as a member of the Mountain Division Senior Leadership Team to help set priorities and drive execution on key business strategies. 

 

Brand and Market Growth: 
Drive brand consistency, quality, and market expansion across the food and beverage portfolio to maximize impact and return on investment. 

 

Qualifications

  • Proven leadership experience in ancillary services or operations industries. 
  • Relevant experience in complex business environments, including roles with P&L accountability, strategic planning, market development, and operational execution. 
  • Experience managing cross-functional teams and leading innovation within a hospitality, leisure, or resort context. 
  • Strong business and financial acumen, with the ability to craft compelling business narratives. 
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills. 
  • Demonstrated success in developing talent and leading high-performing teams. 
  • Strong analytical, planning, and decision-making capabilities.

 

Preferred Experience

  • 15+ years of progressive operations leadership experience with multi-unit or ancillary business oversight, preferably through a Center of Expertise. 
  • Track record of conceptualizing, refining, and scaling high-volume F&B businesses to achieve targeted ROI. 
  • Prior leadership in product lifecycle management, pricing strategy, and guest experience enhancement. 
  • Demonstrated ability to operate in a team environment and contribute to successful execution of goals. 
  • Ability to facilitate meetings and training. 
  • Demonstrated experience in cross functional collaboration; ability to influence change. 
  • Outstanding critical thinking and communication skills, with a very high level of emotional intelligence, and autonomy. 
  • Proven computer skills, including Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, and Excel.

 

KPIs:

  • Year-over-year revenue and profitability growth in the F&B business. 
  • Execution progress against annual strategic priorities. 
  • Guest satisfaction and retention metrics related to F&B products and services. 
  • Team engagement and leadership pipeline development.

 

Key Decision Rights:

  • Strategic direction and prioritization across all incubation P&Ls. 
  • Resource planning, including budget management, for F&B COE 
  • Establishment and compliance of F&B Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs). 
  • Talent decisions for F&B senior operations. 
  • Alignment and leadership of change management efforts.

 

The expected Total Compensation for this role is $150,677 - $234,818 + annual bonus + equity. Individual compensation decisions are based on a variety of factors.

Vail Resorts offers a ‘Hybrid’ work environment where employees living within 50 miles of the Broomfield office work on-site Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday and have flexibility to work off-site on Mondays and Fridays.  Employees living outside of a commutable distance can work remotely from British Columbia, Washington D.C., and the 16 U.S. states* in which we currently operate.
