Job Summary:
The Vail Resorts Finance Team is committed to Building Leaders and Driving Value. We are seeking a talented Manager of Accounting Compliance. This position may be remote in one of the states we currently operate in, or based in our corporate headquarters in Broomfield, CO.
The Manager of Accounting Compliance is a key member of the Controller’s organization, reporting to the Director of Technical Accounting and SOX. This role is responsible for ensuring robust compliance and
internal control frameworks across accounting and finance functions. This position will manage compliance initiatives and oversee projects that enhance operational efficiency and mitigate risk within the accounting function. Areas of focus for compliance initiatives include those for outsourced and offshore resources, integrations, business process automation, and the integration of artificial intelligence into accounting processes.

Job Responsibilities:
- Manage compliance priorities in collaboration with other members of leadership to balance compliance with timely and accurate reporting.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams such as FP&A, Treasury, Tax, IT, and Insurance & Risk Management to ensure accurate accounting and timely execution of financial processes.
- Manage relationships with third party stakeholders, including external service providers.
- Ensure adherence to SOX, SEC, and internal control requirements across accounting and finance operations. Maintain and enhance compliance frameworks for evolving business models, including outsourced and offshore processes. Partner with internal and external auditors to provide documentation and support for compliance reviews.
- Design, implement, and continuously improve internal controls for new initiatives such as automation and AI-driven for processes within the Controller’s organization.
- Contribute to the development of enterprise policies that facilitate a strong internal control environment.
- Assist in the preparation of information essential to the understanding and assessment of internal controls, including risk and control matrices, process narratives and/or flowcharts of processes
- Assist in the training and development of operations personnel to support compliance with established processes and controls
- Coordinate with controls owners and external auditors for the audit of the company’s internal controls over financial reporting
- Assess risks associated with international, outsourcing, and offshore activities for the accounting teams; assist in the development and implementation of mitigating controls.
- Monitor and update compliance policies to reflect regulatory changes and emerging technologies applicable to the Controller’s organization.
- Lead cross-functional compliance projects, including system upgrades, process automation, and integration of AI tools. Manage timelines, deliverables, and stakeholder communication for compliance related initiatives.
- Drive efficiency and scalability in compliance processes through technology and best practices.
- Serve as a team lead in acquisition integrations, system implementations, and other strategic initiatives impacting compliance and accounting functions.
- Work closely with Accounting, FP&A, Treasury, Tax, IT, and Legal teams to ensure compliance objectives are met, fostering a culture of accountability and continuous improvement.
- Serve as a subject matter expert for compliance in accounting and finance, providing guidance and training to internal teams.
Job Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance or related field.
- Active CPA, CIA, or CFA license preferred.
- Minimum of four years of experience, including public accounting, internal audit, and/or corporate accounting and reporting; management experience preferred.
- Deep knowledge of SOX, internal controls, and US GAAP. IFRS experience a plus.
- Proven experience in project management, process improvement, and technology-driven initiatives.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with strong analytical, problem-solving, interpersonal, and organizational abilities.
- Ability to manage multiple assignments in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment.
- Capable of working independently and collaboratively within a team, including remote coordination with geographically dispersed colleagues.
- Detail-oriented and proficient in Microsoft Office applications.
- Experience with financial and compliance software systems and tools such as PeopleSoft
- Financials, Blackline, ZenGRC and Alteryx a plus.
The expected Total Compensation for this role is $79,531.16 - $103,535.40 + Annual Bonus. Individual compensation decisions are based on a variety of factors.
