Job Summary:
The Director of Digital Technology is a strategically important position that will maintain a strategic view of the digital technology landscape, keeping current with industry best practices and aspects of innovation within the space. In this role, the Director of Digital Technology, in partnership with IT leadership and Marketing, will develop and implement a multi-discipline roadmap. This roadmap aims to transform Marketing, Technology, People, and Processes into one customer-centric vision so that we can outpace the demands put upon Vail Resorts to evolve. As part of that vision, you will build a team focused on implementing new technologies, improving existing technologies, and ensuring the effective use of our digital technology ecosystem.
As a key addition to the Digital Technology leadership team, reporting to the Sr. Director, Digital Technology, candidates must bring deep experience in custom software development, including a solid history of delivering consumer-facing web, mobile, native mobile app, and ecommerce systems using an agile-based approach. Candidates must have the ability to develop talent, foster a culture of transparency, innovation, and a sense of purpose among the team, and create clear accountabilities to drive success.

Essential Job Functions:
- Strategic Leadership:
- Define and execute the 3-year technology strategy and implementation plan aligning with the customer-centric vision.
- Collaborate with executive leadership to align technology initiatives with business goals and external trends.
- Stay abreast of industry trends, emerging technologies, and best practices
- Team Management:
- Empower team members and develop talent through performance monitoring and evaluation, alignment to corporate professional development program, and company growth.
- Lead and inspire the digital development and QA team to engage with the business, identify new functionality, develop compelling business cases, prioritize projects, and develop plans that maximize the company's return on investment.
- Foster a culture of continuous improvement, innovation, and collaboration within the technology teams.
- Technical Architecture:
- Lead the development of innovative and differentiated digital products and services across consumer-facing web, mobile, mobile app, e-commerce, and the broader marketing technology space.
- Oversee the design, development, and deployment of custom software solutions that meet business requirements and customer needs.
- Ensure the adoption of best practices in software development, including agile methodologies, code reviews, and continuous integration/continuous deployment (CI/CD).
- Manage the software development lifecycle, from ideation to deployment and ongoing maintenance.
- Quality Assurance:
- Establish and maintain rigorous QA processes to ensure the highest quality standards for all software products.
- Implement automated testing frameworks and other QA tools to streamline testing processes and improve efficiency.
- Ensure timely identification, documentation, and resolution of defects throughout the software development lifecycle.
- Build strong relationships that focus on understanding the needs of our stakeholders and internal IT resources and tailor our digital technology strategy to support those needs.
- Maintain an external network to ensure our organization continuously analyzes new digital innovations and implements those that align with our marketing strategy and drive value.
- Participate in executive presentations and effectively communicate complex technical concepts in business terms.

Skills and Qualifications:
- Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Engineering, MIS or related field required.
- At least 5 years of experience in the following areas:
- Developing and leading a collaborative and Agile software development team that improves velocity while maintaining a strong focus on quality and scalability in a fast-paced environment with competing deadlines.
- Leading digital marketing technology strategy and execution
- Developing mission-critical software applications and systems that support marketing technologies.
- Successful track record building and leading Omni-channel digital technology teams, including experience developing and executing digital technologies in a distributed environment (websites, apps, 3rd party solutions, mobile, etc).
- Ability to successfully resolve situations that are broadly defined, complex, diverse, and occasionally unprecedented.
- Detail-oriented with strong program and project management competencies.
- Ability to step into projects that are already in progress or need rescue and effectively assume a leadership role.
- Exceptional communication and presentation skills
- Knowledge and hands-on experience within cloud-based platforms, cybersecurity, and audience data/analytics.
- Excellent understanding of continuous integration and development methodologies and can communicate cross-platform thinking.
The expected Total Compensation for this role is $150,000 - $189,000 + annual bonus + equity. Individual compensation decisions are based on a variety of factors.
