Job Summary:
The IT Director of Retail Applications is responsible for managing the portfolio of enterprise retail applications for Vail Resorts. The scope of this role includes business and technology strategy, vendor management, operational execution and support, and leadership of a dedicated team of system analysts. This individual plays an integral role in connecting the Vail Resorts Retail line of business with the broader Information Technology organization, and in doing so, is an integral member of both the Vail Resorts Retail Senior Leadership Teams. Success in this role requires partnership with key stakeholders, inspiring and coaching the members of the team to reach their potential, strategic thought leadership, project delivery excellence, and production management oversight. Qualified candidates should have exemplary leadership traits, excellent verbal and written communication skills, technical acumen, and be life-long learners. This position reports to the Senior Director of IT, Hospitality and Retail.

 

Job Responsibilities:

  • Develop an understanding of our business and collaborate closely with stakeholders to identify and influence opportunities to drive business value through technology innovation
  • Drive prioritization and develop a strategic multi-year Retail technology roadmap
  • Provide oversight for the maintenance, enhancement, and production support of all Retail applications
  • Provide leadership, direction and coaching to a team of Retail Application Analysts
  • Manage resource allocation across production support, backlog management & strategic projects
  • Manage external vendor relationships
  • Drive ongoing business and IT process improvements
  • Oversee complex cross-departmental initiatives
  • Ensure all compliance responsibilities, such as SOX and PCI, are fully achieved
  • Effectively manage expense and capital budgets and forecasts

 

Job Specifications:

  • Starting Wage: $135,000 - $166,000 + annual bonus + equity
  • Employment Type: Year Round
  • Shift Type: Full Time hours available

Job Qualifications:

  • 8-10+ years of relevant work experience including proven ability to manage applications and successfully lead or oversee critical projects and cross-functional efforts
  • Demonstrated leadership progression with 3+ years of supervisory experience
  • 2+ years of vendor management experience
  • Demonstrated leadership in building high-performing teams and leading change
  • Ability to communicate effectively at all levels across IT and other functions
  • Demonstrated ability to learn and function as a self-starter requiring little direction; we are looking for someone who shows the potential to do more, and who is a natural leader
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to manage initiatives from concept through to completion, including the development and presentation of a business case
  • Bachelor’s degree in Technology, Business, or equivalent experience in related field

 

The expected Total Compensation for this role is $135,000 - $166,000 + annual bonus + equity. Individual compensation decisions are based on a variety of factors.

Vail Resorts offers a ‘Hybrid’ work environment for Broomfield-based roles where employees must live within 50 miles of the Broomfield office and work on-site Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday and have flexibility to work off-site on Mondays and Fridays.
