Job Summary:

The Vail Resorts Finance Team is committed to Building Leaders and Driving Value, and supports a fast growing publicly traded company (NYSE: MTN) comprised of 42 best-in-class mountain resorts and regional ski areas across the U.S., Canada, Europe and Australia.

 

Our team exists to deliver data-driven insights to support the financial management of Vail Resorts – the leading ski resort operator in the world. This is an exciting opportunity to be part of a fast-paced, collaborative team that continuously redefines the mountain resort experience!

 

As the Director of Cost Analytics, based in our Broomfield, Colorado headquarters, you will lead a team focused on generating business insights that drive cost management across the Mountain Division. Your role will encompass financial planning, reporting, forecasting, and analysis to support strategic goals and enhance results. You will collaborate closely with senior executives to provide insights into current and future expenditures, facilitating informed decision-making and growth investments.

 

Job Specifications: 

  • Starting Wage: $120,000 - $160,000 + annual bonus + equity
  • Employment Type: Year Round

Key Responsibilities:

  •          Lead the development and implementation of the financial cost strategy for the Mountain Division across labor, operating expenses, capital, and the Resource Transformation
  •          Collaborate with executive leaders to identify investment priorities and cost management opportunities
  •          Oversee the financial budgeting and planning process for cost structures and investments, aligning resources with strategic initiatives to unlock growth
  •          Regularly prepare comprehensive financial reports to ensure adherence to budgets and spending standards, aligning with organizational and divisional objectives
  •          Analyze financial data to identify trends, variances, and opportunities for cost optimization
  •          Design and execute initiatives to reduce costs and enhance efficiency within standard operating practices, supporting resource transformation for greater organizational effectiveness
  •         Cultivate a high-performing team and culture focused on value creation, delivering results, stakeholder engagement and leadership development
  •          Serve as a key leader within the Finance organization, bringing an enterprise-level perspective to support the strategic, talent and process improvement initiatives

Job Requirements:

  •          Bachelor’s degree required; MBA and/or graduate finance degree strongly preferred
  •          8+ years of experience in leading teams with financial planning and analysis responsibilities
  •          Outstanding analytical skills with ability to synthesize information, develop insights and communicate effectively in presentations and in person meetings
  •          Strong communication skills, with substantial experience collaborating with CFOs, senior executives, and third-party clients
  •          Deep curiosity and passion for understanding and analyzing financial results with a focus on creating shareholder value

 

The expected Total Compensation for this role is $120,000 - $160,000 + annual bonus + equity. Individual compensation decisions are based on a variety of factors.

Vail Resorts offers a ‘Hybrid’ work environment for Broomfield-based roles where employees must live within 50 miles of the Broomfield office and work on-site Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday and have flexibility to work off-site on Mondays and Fridays.
