Director, Technical Product Management

Date:  Jan 28, 2026
Location:

Broomfield, CO, US

Company:  Vail Resorts Corporate
Shift Type:  Year Round

Our mission is to create the Experience of a Lifetime for our employees, so they can, in turn, create the Experience of a Lifetime for our guests. We own and operate the most renowned destination resorts in the world as well as regional and local ski areas outside major cities, and connect them all through one unrivaled network. We are looking for ambitious leaders, innovators and creators to join our talented team. If you’re ready to pursue your fullest potential, we want to get to know you!

Candidates for year-round positions are reviewed on a rolling basis. Applications will be accepted up to 90 days after the posting date, or until the position is filled (whichever is first).

Job Summary:

We are looking for a Product Leader who loves the "engine room" of software development as much as the destination. You will lead the Technical Product Management organization for Guest Experience Technology (GXT), the team responsible for the platforms that power the experience of a lifetime for millions of skiers and riders.

You won’t just manage a backlog; you will define the technical product culture at Vail Resorts. You will lead a team of Technical Product Owners (TPOs) who sit at the intersection of business strategy and engineering execution, ensuring that what we build is viable, scalable, and architected for the future.

We are in the midst of an evolution—moving from traditional requirements gathering to true Technical Product ownership. We need a leader who can coach a team to look beyond "gathering requirements" and start "designing solutions." You will operationalize the handshake between the  Business (The "Why") and Engineering (The "How"), ensuring our technology isn't just delivered, but is crafted.

Job Specifications:

  • Starting Wage: $140,000 - $180,000 + annual bonus + equity
  • Employment Type: Year Round
  • Shift Type: Full Time
  • Minimum Age: At least 18 years of age
  • Housing Availability: No

Job Responsibilities:

  • Build the "Technical Product" Discipline: Champion a culture where TPOs are not just scribes for requirements, but active architects of the solution. Coach the team on how to break down complex monolithic ideas into shippable, technical components.
  • Own the "How": While our Business Product peers define the market opportunity, you and your team own the solution space. You will partner with Engineering Directors to balance feature velocity with technical debt, scalability, and platform stability.
  • Coach & Elevate Talent: You will inherit a team with deep institutional knowledge. Your job is to upskill, mentor, and transform this group into a modern, highfunctioning Product organization. You will define what "great" looks like for technical requirements, API design, and system logic.
  • Drive Delivery Excellence: Move the organization from "project milestones" to "value delivery." Ensure your team provides Engineering with high-fidelity artifacts (data contracts, logic flows, API specs) that eliminate ambiguity and rework.

About you:

  • You are a Product Person who speaks "Engineer": You might have started as a developer, or you’ve spent your career embedded so deeply in engineering teams that you can debate API strategies and data models.
  • You are a Transformation Leader, not a Consultant: You haven't just advised on Agile transformation; you have sat in the seat, managed the messy reality of shifting mindsets, and successfully guided a team from "Waterfalls" to "Sprints."
  • You Care About the User: Even though you work on the technical side, you understand that a bad backend architecture eventually leads to a bad skier experience on the mountain.

Job Requirements:

  • 10+ years in Product Management or Technical Leadership, with specific experience in Technical Product Management (TPM).
  • Proven track record of evolving a team’s capability—specifically taking teams from execution-focused roles (like BA) to ownership-focused roles (like TPO/PM).
  • Deep fluency in modern software development (APIs, Microservices, Data Platforms). You don't need to code today, but you need to understand how the pieces fit together.
  • A "Player-Coach" mindset: You are willing to jump into a complex feature and model what good TPO work looks like to teach your team.

The expected Total Compensation for this role is $140,000 - $180,000 + annual bonus + equity. Individual compensation decisions are based on a variety of factors.

Job Benefits

  • Ski/Mountain Perks! Free passes for employees, employee discounted lift tickets for friends and family AND free ski lessons
  • MORE employee discounts on lodging, food, gear, and mountain shuttles
  • 401(k) Retirement Plan

  • Excellent training and professional development

Full Time roles are eligible for the above, plus:

  • Health Insurance; Medical Insurance, Dental Insurance, and Vision Insurance plans (for eligible seasonal employees after working 500 hours)
  • Free ski passes for dependents
  • Critical Illness and Accident plans
