Job Summary: 

The Director of Program Services is a strategic leadership role within Guest Experience (GX) Technology, accountable for advancing program and portfolio governance, delivery performance, and operational excellence across the organization. This role will establish scalable, consistent practices for managing cross-functional initiatives and ensure tight alignment between technology efforts and business outcomes. The successful candidate will be a key partner in enabling a unified, high-performing technology organization that delivers exceptional guest experiences with speed, quality, and efficiency.

 

Job Specifications:  

  • Starting Wage: $134,706.30 - $173,127.15 + annual bonus + equity

Job Responsibilities: 

  • Define and lead governance practices for program and project management across GX Technology, including intake, prioritization, resourcing, and portfolio transparency.
  • Partner with Marketing and other key stakeholders to translate guest-centric strategies into actionable, measurable technology roadmaps.
  • Collaborate with peer IT leaders and the Office of the CIO to ensure alignment, reduce duplication, and improve execution at scale.
  • Stand up and lead a Lean Agile Center of Excellence (LACE) to embed Agile principles, coach delivery teams, and elevate delivery maturity.
  • Drive the adoption of key performance metrics to measure velocity, stability, quality, and the overall effectiveness of delivery capabilities (e.g., DORA – DevOps Research and Assessment metrics, which include deployment frequency, lead time for changes, change failure rate, and time to restore service).
  • Oversee budget management for GX Technology programs, ensuring financial resources are allocated effectively and efficiently to support strategic objectives.
  • Develop and monitor budgets, track expenditures, and provide regular financial reports to GXT leadership.
  • Develop and maintain dashboards and reporting tools to monitor delivery health and communicate program impact to executive stakeholders. 
  • Build and mentor a high-performing program management team that serves as trusted advisors to GX Tech, IT leadership, and business partners. 
  • Champion a culture of operational excellence, transparency, and continuous improvement across all aspects of program delivery. 

  

Job Requirements:

  • 10+ years of experience in program/portfolio management with at least 5 years in a leadership role.
  • Demonstrated success building program governance and scaling Agile practices across a technology organization.
  • Exceptional leadership, stakeholder engagement, and ability to lead through influence.
  • Deep understanding of Agile delivery frameworks and experience with enterprise-level portfolio and capacity planning.
  • Proven expertise in budget management, including developing, monitoring, and reporting on financial performance.
  • Strong communication, facilitation, and executive presence.
  • Experience in hospitality, travel, or customer experience-focused industries is a plus.
  • Bachelor's degree in a relevant field required.
  • PMP, SAFe, or other Agile/Program certifications preferred 

 

The expected Total Compensation for this role is $134,706.30 - $173,127.15 + annual bonus + equity. Individual compensation decisions are based on a variety of factors.

Vail Resorts offers a ‘Hybrid’ work environment for Broomfield-based roles where employees must live within 50 miles of the Broomfield office and work on-site Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday and have flexibility to work off-site on Mondays and Fridays.
