Job Summary
Vail Resorts is seeking a data-driven, strategic, and collaborative leader to join our team as the Director of Guest Lifecycle. This role represents an exciting opportunity to help advance our efforts to elevate the guest experience through data and cross-functional partnership. Reporting to the Sr. Director of Guest Lifecycle & Ancillary Analytics, this role will lead the development and execution of strategies that optimize the guest journey - driving meaningful guest engagement, increasing lifetime value, and informing a scalable, insight-driven marketing approach. The Director will partner with teams across marketing, analytics, guest research, data science, digital product, priority lines of business, IT, finance, and HR to unlock guest insights, deliver more personalized experiences, and support enterprise growth. This role requires a unique blend of strategic thinking, analytical rigor, operational leadership, and cross-functional influence.

Job Responsibilities:
Guest Lifecycle Strategy & Operating Model Development
- Develop a multi-year roadmap to enhance the guest experience by leveraging insights, guest lifecycle frameworks, relevant best practices, and alignment with broader enterprise strategies
- Conduct gap analyses across strategies, data, processes, organizational structure, and ways of working to identify capabilities required for effective lifecycle marketing and personalization at scale (including support on evaluation of relevant technology and tools)
- Support change leadership across teams, ensuring adoption of guest-centric principles and operationalization of new processes
- Align operating model development efforts to Vail Resorts’ broader strategic vision, marketing priorities, and growth and innovation opportunities
Lifecycle Marketing Pilot Leadership
- Design and oversee execution of a guest lifecycle marketing pilot, driving progress across guest journey, business impact, capability development, and process mapping
- Lead a dedicated cross-functional Pilot team with representation from analytics, data science, marketing channels, marketing operations, priority lines of business, and Test & Learn, while pulling in additional subject matter experts and support teams as needed (e.g., IT, Finance)
- Define and track pilot success metrics across financial performance, guest engagement, and operating model learnings
- Facilitate steering committee meetings with senior leaders to update on progress, drive alignment, remove roadblocks, and ensure accountability to Pilot objectives
- Support coordinated execution across lifecycle touchpoints, including owned media channels (email, SMS, push, direct mail), paid media channels (digital ads, social media, out-of-home), and digital experience (web, app)
- Capture and synthesize learnings to inform broader strategies and build the foundation for future scaling
Insight-Led Guest Journeys & Personalization Enablement
- Partner with analytics, guest research, and data science to develop and leverage guest journey behavioral insights, advanced models (including guest lifetime value), and guest segmentation approaches
- Translate guest insights (“why”) into actionable strategies (“what”) for guest acquisition, engagement, retention, and long-term loyalty – pre-trip, during trip, and post-trip – while unlocking opportunities for guest personalization
- Steward a consistent value chain that enables effective progression from guest insights → guest strategies → activation → guest experience → measurement & reporting → iteration / feedback loop
- Develop and operationalize test-and-learn frameworks for optimizing within and across digital touchpoints
- Guide performance tracking, measurement, and reporting to support continuous improvement
Cross-Functional Collaboration & Enterprise Engagement
- Drive alignment across functions, including marketing, analytics, guest research, data science, digital product, priority lines of business, IT, finance, and HR, to ensure success of varied lifecycle marketing and transformation initiatives
- Guide teams in prioritizing and sequencing work for integration into broader enterprise goals
- Foster a collaborative, intellectually curious, and guest-first culture to align efforts and maintain transparency and accountability
- Engage with senior leaders and teams across all levels of the organization to secure support and alignment for relevant opportunities, change management, and overall program success
Job Requirements (Experience & Education)
- Bachelor’s degree required; MBA or advanced degree preferred
- 8–10+ years of experience in marketing and corporate strategy, customer experience, lifecycle marketing, digital transformation, or management consulting
- Experience designing and leading complex, cross-functional projects/programs involving marketing, analytics, and technology
- Strong track record of developing data-driven, innovative marketing strategies and connecting them to business outcomes
- Experience translating strategy into actionable plans delivered through rigorous planning and structured, consistent program management practices
- Experience working across marketing and media channels, including owned (email, SMS, app, direct mail) and paid (digital ads, social media, out-of-home) touchpoints, with experience mapping guest journeys
- Proven ability to navigate complex, matrixed organizations, motivating cross-functional teams towards shared outcomes
- Comfortable working with senior leaders to align and drive initiatives forward
