Job Summary: 

The Vail Resorts Planning & Projects team is seeking a proactive, detail-oriented Associate Construction Project Manage to support a fast paced portfolio of capital projects across our mountain resorts. This role manages key project coordination activities, supports budgeting and contracting, oversees financial tracking, and helps keep complex construction projects on schedule and on track. The Associate PM partners closely with Senior PMs, technical experts, and external partners to deliver high quality results across infrastructure, lift installations, snowmaking, facilities, housing, and other enterprise initiatives.‑oriented ‑paced portfolio of capital projects across our mountain resorts. Job Specifications:  

  • Starting Wage: $88,868.83 - $100,000 + Annual Bonus

Job Responsibilities:

  • Demonstrate strong business acumen with prior knowledge of, and/or the ability to learn, on-mountain construction practices.  
  • Serve as a clear and effective communicator, capable of managing through change and uncertainty while supporting Senior Project Managers and broader project teams.  
  • Read, interpret, and apply construction documents, specifications, and construction processes with a high degree of accuracy and detail.  
  • Understand team, enterprise, and project objectives and lead consistent, proactive communication to internal and external stakeholders.  
  • Support, lead, and manage projects alongside a Senior Project Manager, with responsibility for coordination, contracting, construction execution, scheduling, and budgeting.  
  • Travel as needed to Vail Resorts locations to support and execute assigned projects. (Travel 5x/year on average) 
  • Prepare, monitor, and maintain project budgets; create and manage contracts; administer purchase orders; and oversee financial tools within systems such as Conga (contracts) and Coupa (purchasing system).  
  • Collaborate closely with governmental agencies and officials throughout approval, permitting, and inspection processes.  
  • Operate as a self-starter who works effectively independently and in team environments.  
  • Support oversight of architects, designers, engineers, contractors, vendors, and consultants to ensure coordinated project delivery.  
  • Maintain real time understanding of all facets of project status and prepare clear project updates and reporting.  
  • Source, evaluate, and recommend project consultants, vendors, and partners; support competitive bid/RFP processes and bid tabulation.  
  • Work collaboratively with team leadership throughout the project lifecycle and support decision-making on project related matters.  
  • Develop and maintain clear and concise reports and executive level storytelling materials to communicate project progress, risks, opportunities, and strategic alignment.  
  • Take/assemble meeting notes and distribute summaries to project stakeholders.  
  • Support document control, including organization, version tracking, and structured storage of project documents.  
  • Assist with updating project schedules in coordination with the Senior Project Manager.  
  • Help maintain and update KPIs and other performance metrics for the project portfolio.  
  • Assist with assembling materials, and documentation for Project Review Meetings.  
  • Support project execution across a wide range of project types, including ski lift installations, snowmaking system upgrades, restaurant renovations, drainage and stormwater improvements, employee housing initiatives, and any other project needs across the enterprise. 
  • Perform additional responsibilities as assigned. 

 

Job Requirements: 

  • Bachelor’s Degree – In Construction Management or Engineering
  • 3-7 years’ experience in construction management or related field
  • Valid driver’s license
  • Computer Skills: Standard Microsoft Office applications. Adept in Excel (necessary) and scheduling experience (Microsoft Project, Smartsheet, Asta, P6) (preferred). Will be utilizing Coupa (purchasing software) and Conga and must have the ability to nimbly navigate and learn other software and project management tools.
  • Proficient ability to read, write, and speak English; 
  • Strong self-starter, leadership and understanding of all phases of development and construction with focus on construction management, completion urgency and closeout.

 

Preferred Skills:          

  • Experience with resort development, building construction/renovation and mountain construction.
  • Ability to multi-task and simultaneously manage multiple projects.

 

The expected pay range is $88,868.83 - $100,000 + Annual Bonus. This is the pay range we reasonably expect to pay for this position. Individual compensation decisions are based on a variety of factors.
