Temperatures can vary but average temperatures during the winter months will fluctuate between  5ºF - 30ºF.

  • We do offer retail discounts to employees but do come prepared with a good pair of winter gloves, boots, hats and warm layers!

SUMMER
Temperatures can vary but average temperatures during the summer months but average temperatures are mid to low 30ºF to highs of 75ºF and above.

Nestled in the scenic St. Croix River Valley just outside Minneapolis and St. Paul, this sprawling resort poured $10 million the fall of 2013 into re-imagining the guest experience with the base area facilities, a powerful state-of-the-art snowmaking system and a cutting edge terrain park. With nearly 300 skiable acres, 48 trails, 18 lifts and four terrain parks, there is enough terrain to challenge experts to beginners, day or night. EPIC IMPROVEMENTS

Snowmaking Capabilities

  • Our snowmaking system provides the region’s highest quality snow surface, greater base depth due to the ability to make snow twice as fast with existing water resources. Summer 2013 we added 22 energy-efficient snowmaking guns and 50 low-energy tower snow guns. Afton Alps also has a state of the art snowmaking pump house, with larger diameter pipes capable of pumping water twice as fast when temperatures permit.

Landing Zone Terrain Park

  • Pete and his Afton Alps terrain park crew will have new features and designs.  Additionally, two new rope tows service the terrain park for faster and easier access to park features. This increases your LPH Laps Per Hour in the park.

Dining Facilities

  • All dining areas have state of the art kitchen equipment. Our Food and Beverage Director Ryan Mack is presenting all new menus at Afton Alps for the 2014-15 Season. This includes signature items, such as Vail’s famous Epic Burger.

Lift Ticketing and Scanning System (New this Season Online Ticketing)

  • The lift ticket and scanning system is electronic. This system provides Afton Alps guests a seamless transaction experience and faster access to the lift. This is for both season pass holders and single-day lift ticket skiers and snowboarders. New this season online / mobile ticketing and card reloading so you don’t have to wait in the ticket line.
