Job Summary:

The Vehicle Shop Team Lead supports the daily operations of the Epic Mountain Express vehicle maintenance shop, ensuring the safety, reliability, and availability of our diverse fleet, which includes passenger shuttle vans, light-duty trucks, SUVs, and small equipment. This hands-on role includes performing diagnostics and repairs, coordinating daily workflow with dispatch/operations, and assisting with minor facility maintenance and repairs. The Team Lead ensures all work adheres to safety and operational standards while maintaining a clean and efficient shop environment.

 

Job Specifications: 

  • Starting Wage: $25.00/hr - $35.44/hr

Job Responsibilities:

Vehicle Maintenance & Diagnostics:

  • Perform proficient diagnosis and repair of fleet vehicles and small equipment.
  • Ensure timely and efficient repairs to minimize downtime and maintain operational readiness.
  • Conduct preventive maintenance and inspections to ensure vehicle safety and reliability.

Fleet Operations Support:
  • Coordinate with Dispatch to ensure scheduled trips are covered with safe and well-maintained vehicles.
  • Communicate repair status and vehicle availability to relevant stakeholders.
  • Assist with tracking vehicle usage, maintenance history, and rotation planning.

Safety & Compliance:
  • Follow and promote safety guidelines and policies in the shop and during vehicle service.
  • Ensure all work complies with applicable local, state, and federal vehicle safety regulations.

Facilities Support:
  • Assist with minor facilities maintenance and repairs as needed to support operational continuity.

 

Technical Expertise:
  • Use diagnostic tools and onboard vehicle systems to troubleshoot issues.
  • Stay current with vehicle technologies and maintenance best practices.

 

Professional Conduct:
  • Demonstrate Vail Resorts’ core values.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

 

Job Requirements:

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Automotive Technical School/Training or an equivalent combination of education and experience
  • 5+ years of hands-on experience in vehicle maintenance, including light-duty vehicles
  • Through knowledge of the methods, tools and equipment used in the repair of vehicles to include procedures for diagnosing malfunctions and performing technical repairs as well as the operation of maintenance equipment.
  • Automotive Service Excellence (ASE) certifications or other Automotive certifications preferred
  • Basic computer applications (e.g., Microsoft Office).
  • Valid driver’s license; Ability to obtain a Department of Transportation medical examination card
  • Proficiency with diagnostic tools, vehicle systems
  • Must have own tools
  • Ability to interpret and apply information from technical manuals, schematics, and wiring diagrams.
  • Ability to work independently and effectively as part of a team.

 

The expected pay range is $25.00/hr - $35.44/hr. This is the pay range we reasonably expect to pay for this position. Individual compensation decisions are based on a variety of factors.
