Job Summary:

The Ski & Ride School Senior Manager is responsible for the overall guest experience within the Ski & Ride School. This is achieved by focusing on quality control of our products, financial management, teamwork, guest relations, employee development, creation and implementation of new programs and services, hiring, training, and leading the management team, handling administrative duties, and fulfilling personal development and job-specific responsibilities as defined by the Director.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Direct and monitor quality of overall POD products and staff to ensure exceptional guest experience, alignment with resort and company goals, financial success, and development of future products/programs.
  • Responsible for the financial management of all operations, including budget development, month end profit & loss, forecasting & reporting, monitoring daily financial reports, labor management, and ultimately achieving contribution targets.
  • Personnel management including hiring and professional growth of all staff, performance management, and employee relations with goal of developing staff and driving retention.
  • Direct oversight of Supervisors, Product Managers, and Location Manager. Provide feedback, growth and leadership opportunities and appropriate training to develop LM/PMs/Supervisors. Ensure accountability of overall quality for the guest as well as the employee experience.
  • Operational and strategic planning for the school with direction from Director of Skier Services and resort GM. Inclusive of a safety business plan that drives positive results for employees and guests as well as revenue opportunities to drive financial performance.
  • Oversight and development of the ski & snowboard school guest loyalty program as well as the corporate group lesson line of business.
  • Develop a partnership with the training manager and lead trainers to ensure staff training is aligned with desired guest experience and employee development goals and continue to monitor the quality of training in the location and adjust as needed.
  • Stay current on guest and employee health and safety and compliance regulations, including MSDS standards, universal precautions, child abuse guidelines, temporary background checks, emergency evacuation, lightning procedures and all other compliance accountability as defined in Policy Tech.      
  • Understand and model the school teaching philosophy and guest service guidelines and be prepared to lead clinics and teach the public if necessary.
  • Actively stay informed on industry trends, competitions, and events, and remain involved with professional organizations (ISIA, PSIA/AASI).
  • Create and maintain interdepartmental relationships with Product Sales, Guest Services, VRR, Mountain Operations, Group Sales, SRS Marketing, and F&B to ensure a seamless guest experience.
  • Meet and greet guest’s daily and role model exceptional guest service. Resolve guest complaints efficiently and effectively and support 100% guest recovery.
  • Monitor and maintain quality and appearance of facilities, both guest and employee facing - on mountain, base areas, lesson yards, signage and program imaging, teaching terrain, and locker rooms.
  • Be proactively involved in enterprise-wide best practice efforts by being a contributor to strategic work tracks with the focus on driving results for the greater company.
  • Actively participate in capital planning and project management to ensure we are investing in the guest experience in a way that will drive the business and support our brand standards.
  • Other duties as assigned.

 

Job Requirements:

  • High School Diploma or equivalent
  • Minimum 5 years ski school management experience
  • Minimum of 7 years ski/snowboard industry experience 
  • Experience managing large employee populations - minimum 100 people
  • PSIA/AASI Level 3- Required
  • MS Office Suite, RPOS/Guest Connect Preferred
  • Fluent in all aspects of English
  • Strong written and oral communication skills

 

The expected pay range is $68,545.70 - $85,250 + annual bonus. This is the pay range we reasonably expect to pay for this position. Individual compensation decisions are based on a variety of factors.
