Job Summary:

As the Assistant Manager, you recruit, coordinate, motivate and lead a team in one of Patagonia’s retail stores. You maintain your store as a hub for environmental activism, sport and positive vibes. You act as an ambassador for Patagonia in your business community. You positively network across stores and channels while thinking of ways to support the broader success of retail. You ensure that our customer-service experience is best-in-class: consistent, authentic, engaging and aligned with Patagonia’s core values. You lead by example and inspire your team to live Patagonia’s mission, both in the store and in the community.

 

You are an accessible, transparent and supportive leader, and you act as an entrepreneur for your store using Patagonia’s mission and core values as your compass. You coach your Team Leaders on their communication and ownership skills, support a steady feedback loop and work to develop your Assistant Store Manager successor. You recruit and hire people who are passionate about the planet. You spend significant time on the sales floor and lead by example. You educate your team on environmental campaigns and local initiatives.

  • The budgeted range starts at $25 - $27 / hour. Actual pay will be adjusted based on experience.

Activism/ Social Media Focus Summary:

As the Retail Activism Team Leader, you will be responsible for leading the activism programming for the store. Your energy and passion for the local community help set the tone for all store employees, encouraging a team approach to environmentalism and social justice.

  • Contribute to a welcoming store energy that invites the best ideas from diverse, varied voices, including, but not limited to the team and local community.
  • Lead engagement and education for the staff
  • Promote and oversee Activism Hours for the staff, ensuring new staff are trained and current staff are engaged.

 

As the Retail Marketing Team Leader, you will be responsible for leading the events programming, social media and local email marketing for the store. Your energy and passion for the local community help set the tone for all store employees, encouraging a team approach to retail marketing.

  • Creatively plan and execute events that include a wide range of subjects.
  • Include the store team and their ideas for events, social media and marketing, encouraging new ideas from all employees.
  • Collaborate with your Retail Team Leader Partners to educate your team on Patagonia brand marketing campaigns.

 

When not scheduled for your focus area duties, the balance of weekly hours will be scheduled as an Assistant Store Manager.

  • Your staff never have to guess how they’re doing since you provide ongoing feedback, coaching, training and acknowledgment.

  • You partner with the In-Store Visual Merchandiser or Visual Team Leader to identify and execute regular priorities.

  • You lead by example and inspire your team to live Patagonia’s mission, both in the store and in the community
  • You serve as a role model and coach for the team by identifying and delegating daily priorities of your store's Retail Environmental Activism Program.

  • You maintain positive relationships with management, team members and store partners.
  • You keep lines of communication open among management and team members by ensuring that expectations are upheld and objectives are met.
  • You identify growth opportunities for team members within the Retail Environmental Activism Program and partner with management to address them.
  • You ensure optimal inventory levels on the sales floor.

Job Requirements, Education, Experience:

  • Proven service experience and thriving when managing a team-based atmosphere
  • Passionate about communities, the environment, and caring for others
  • Experience successfully leading in an atmosphere with ambiguity, learning on the fly, demonstrating sound judgment, and solving problems creatively
  • History of building and maintaining relationships with ease and desires to put the customer at the center of everything they do
  • Experience managing a team of people and a passion for growing and developing employees.
  • Demonstrates highly developed emotional intelligence.
  • Ability to make sound judgment calls and manage all operations in the absence of the General Manager.
  • Flexible amidst competing priorities and adaptable to the fast-paced environment of a retail store while rallying the team with positivity.
  • Interest and aptitude for strategic business planning that responds to a specific community.
  • High School Diploma or GED Equivalent; Business area training or education preferred
  • 1-3 years of retail supervisor experience; ski industry preferred.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced retail environment, multitask and manage multiple customers
  • Ability to work a flexible schedule including nights, holidays, and weekends
  • Must be able to communicate fluently in English

 

The expected pay range is $25 - $27. This is the pay range we reasonably expect to pay for this position. Individual compensation decisions are based on a variety of factors.
