Job Summary:

The Director of Operations is responsible for assisting the General Manager in delivering results that contribute to the mission and overall success of the hotels by accomplishing performance objectives focused on business revenues, associate engagement, guest satisfaction and profitability in the Rooms, Spa and Food and Beverage departments. This position will be responsible for ensuring that the Lodge at Vail Are adhering to Rock Resorts and Vail Resorts brand standards, monitoring budgets and financial performance, supporting Sales and Marketing efforts and conducting frequent hotel inspections.

  • The budgeted range starts at $85,000 - $96,000 + annual bonus. Actual pay will be adjusted based on experience

Job Responsibilities:

  • The Director of Operations will coordinate, direct and manage day-to-day hotel operations including but not limited to:  Front Office (Bell/ Valet, Night Audit Front Desk, Concierge), Housekeeping (including but not limited to Laundry, Room Attendants, and Public Areas), Spa and Food and Beverage (Restaurant (Front and Back of the House), and Room Service).
  • Builds strong relationships with Lodge at Vail owners and guests.
  • Manages applicable capital projects.
  • Embraces leading a team, training and developing them to excel in their roles and continuously improve; motivate team members to exceed expectations of the guests; passionately uphold and elevate a positive work environment.
  • Maintains all required Rock Resorts and Vail Resorts brand cleanliness and service standards.
  • Observes and adheres to safety and security procedures, promoting a safe work environment.  Detect signs of emergency situations and respond with proper and prompt action
  • Able to reach effective solutions, poses good questions, and does not stop at the first answer he/she comes across.
  • Identifies and resolves problems in a timely manner.
  • Able to build associate engagement to achieve goals and objectives.
  • Accurately budgets and forecasts revenues and expenses monthly.  Monitors and controls labor costs and operational expenses
  • Demonstrates a commitment to customer service and ensures brand service scores are maintained at brand average or better.
  • Coaches by providing regular performance feedback and proactively addressing performance concerns of team members.
  • Analyzes systems and operational procedures and evaluates and implements new systems as required.
  • Responsible for daily monitoring of rooms inventory, rate and plan availability and preparing reports of room availability and revenue generated.
  • Plans, develops, implements and evaluates the level of guest service given to external customers by reviewing all Medallia guest surveys.  Follows up/resolves as required.
  • Maintains product and service quality standards by conducting periodic inspections, investigating complaints and initiating corrective action.
  • Develops and utilizes operating and training manuals to foster professional development and cross-training.
  • Develops monthly action plans to proactively correct departmental deficiencies.
  • Reviews all schedules, purchase requests, purchase orders, and coordinates efforts to follow budget, forecast, and staffing requirements.
  • Represents Lodge at Vail in the pre- and post- convention meetings and communicates needs to proper departments.
  • Interfaces with PR, marketing, strategic alliance, catering services and events, and mountain ops to maximize visibility and branding of all of our resort products.
  • And any other applicable job duties.

 

Job Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree 5 years of experience in a full service hotel.
  • At least 2 years of experience in a Department Head/Director role at a full service hotel.
  • At least 4 years of supervisory experience
  • Proficient in Microsoft word, excel, outlook, PowerPoint
  • Working knowledge of managing brand standards.
  • Experience in managing labor and expenses in a full service hotel
  • Successful candidate should have strong written and oral communication skills plus a strong background in delivering presentations and training.
  • Spanish language skills - preferred
  • Previous Hotel Operations experience - Required

 

 

The expected pay range is $85,000 - $96,000 + annual bonus. This is the pay range we reasonably expect to pay for this position. Individual compensation decisions are based on a variety of factors.
