Job Summary:

The Retail Purchasing Assistant provides essential administrative and operational support to the Retail Buying and Merchandising division across Grand Teton Lodge Company’s (GTLC) 13 retail locations, including Flagg Ranch Stores and seasonal pop-up operations. This role helps ensure accurate purchasing coordination, product portfolio, vendor communication, and inventory support in alignment with GTLC’s high-quality, financially disciplined, and guest-focused retail program within Grand Teton National Park and the National Park Service concession system. This position is well-suited for a highly organized, detail-driven professional who thrives in a fast-paced, multi-location environment and is eager to support retail buying operations through strong administrative execution. GTLC Retail values internal development and offers opportunities for career growth within the Vail Resorts organization. Strong attention to detail, organization, and proficiency in Microsoft Office are required. The ideal candidate demonstrates learning agility, clear communication, and the ability to collaborate cross-functionally with store teams, warehouse operations, and vendor partners.

On-site housing is provided at Jackson Lake Lodge. Additional work hours beyond a typical 40-hour week may be required during strategic operational periods such as store setup and inventory.

 

Job Specifications:

Job Responsibilities:

  • Support purchasing activities across categories in alignment with OTB budgets, revenue, margin, and inventory goals.
  • Assist with purchase order preparation, tracking, and documentation to ensure accurate spend and timely payment.
  • Maintain vendor profiles and sales histories. Track vendor onboarding, invoicing support, and payment-related documentation.
  • Support item setup, and inventory redistribution across retail locations.
  • Coordinate accurate annual inventory and prepare inventory upload files.
  • Manage price testing audits and ensure compliant interpretive and pricing signage in store locations.
  • Assist in monitoring inventory levels, PAR tracking, and replenishment needs to reduce obsolescence and support product assortment health across locations.
  • Assist with sales reporting and basic trend tracking to help inform merchandising and purchasing decisions.
  • Contribute to GTLC brand standards, interpretive storytelling, and National Park Service compliance.
  • Work with Retail Buying/Merchandise Team and Retail Operations Manager to coordinate and lead product and merchandising training across locations. Create incentive led programs to increase store knowledge and quality.
  • Coordinate communication between vendors, buyers, warehouse teams, and store leadership to support timely deliveries and issue resolution.
  • Contribute to department priorities related to safety, sustainability, compliance, and operational excellence.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Job Requirements:

  • College Degree or equivalent experience
  • Prior work experience in a retail environment recommended
  • Knowledge of windows based programs including Excel, Word, ect
  • Written and verbal English skills
  • Professional, well groomed appearance
  • Must be able to drive a company vehicle
  • Must be able to lift up to 50lbs

 

Preferred Skills:

  • Prior Retail Experience preferred
  • Prior experience in buying duties recommended
  • Prior customer service or accounting experience
  • Prior experience with retail POS systems
  • Good written and verbal communication skills

The expected pay range is $44,000. This is the pay range we reasonably expect to pay for this position. Individual compensation decisions are based on a variety of factors.
