Stowe Mountain Resort and Vail Resorts Retail is looking for a leader to manage one of our winter rental/retail locations. The ideal candidate will manage the overall day-to-day operation of our Front Four Sports rental/demo and retail location in Stowe Vermont. This position is responsible for hiring, training, staffing and scheduling, financial management, sales staff supervision and overall store management. Responsible for sales generation and growth, inventory control, controllable expenses, cash management, merchandising, loss prevention and store appearance.  Front Four Sports is a high paced, medium volume winter rental and retail location.  Candidates must be passionate about driving guest service standards, leading a team and being accountable to results.

  • Drive the highest level of sales and service culture within each store with focus of enhancing and optimizing revenue opportunities
  • Ensure the stores are aligned with Stowe Mountain Resort and VRR policies & objectives.
  • Coordinate receipt and transfer of all rental equipment
  • Participate in physical inventories to help ensure inventory accuracy
  • Build product information into IS and maintain barcodes as required
  • Coordinate rental reservation information with
  • Verify all required pre-inventory, inventory, and post inventory preparation, guidelines, and instructions are being followed
  • Act as the Rental Systems Regional Trainer conducting classes and on-the-job training as required
  • Coordinate ASTM testing and binding certification training
  • Verify that regular monthly audits are conducted
  • Verify that established rental operations standards are being maintained
  • Verify that an adequate supply of forms, materials, and supplies are on hand
  • Review the rental training binder periodically for organization, completeness, and updates
  • Review rental reports, to ensure that they are run and utilized per policy
  • Review rental contracts and accident reports for proper policy adherence
  • Inspect fleet for overall condition and maintenance requirements
  • Review inventory reports for proper status assignment, documentation, and necessary actions
  • Communicate problems, discrepancies, and audit results to Regional Managers on a weekly basis
  • Demonstrate comfort, adaptability and out-front leadership of all day to day operations and seasonal store setups and ramp-downs
  • Develop a robust talent development program for store’s Assistant Managers, and Supervisor team, with a focus on personal and professional empowerment.
  • Drive excellence in all areas of store operational standards.
  • Generate sales, and demonstrate and maintain a professional standard of guest service
  • Evaluate sales trends and create methods for sales growth
  • Manage inventory control and meet or exceed inventory goals
  • Be a model and administer company policies and guidelines
  • Recruit, hire, train, coach, and maintain quality store teams
  • Enforce company cash handling policies and procedures, and other loss prevention policies
  • Provide training resources in POS, product knowledge, guest service, resort information, and sales
  • Conduct performance appraisals for and coach development of staff on a regular basis
  • Maintain all company paperwork according to policies and standards
  • Manage operational budget
  • Be energetic, motivated, and possess the ability to multi-task


Operational Expectations

  • Sales Training- Develop staff in demonstrating the ‘GUIDE’ experience- every guest, every time.
  • Coaching and Monitoring- Ensure that all store teams are given the opportunity in performance improvement, and development goals are created for growth.

  • Progressive Discipline- Ability to recognize corrective action opportunities, and ability to demonstrate accountability & present coaching discussions.
  • Communication and Reporting- Ensure that all time sensitive assignments are completed and clearly communicated in a timely manner.
  • Physical Organization- Ensure that all Stowe Mountain Resort and Vail Resorts standard operating procedures are adhered to on a consistent basis.
  • Merchandise Maintenance- Maintain store merchandising standards directed by the Merchandise Specialist. Ability to maintain close, collaborative relationships with Merchandisers and Buyers.
  • Promotional Appearance- Ensure that all sale signage, price adjustments and other promotional fixtures are executed in a timely manner as directed by the Buyers and Merchandise Specialist.
  • Loss Prevention- Ability to implement all LP measures & practices. Adhere to all preventive policies and ensure buy in from store teams.
  • Risk Management – Ensure 100% compliance in all risk management related areas, including safety, and incident reporting.
  • Cash Management- Maintain practice of proper protocols in all aspects of cash usage as defined in Vail Resorts SOP manuals.
  • Product Management- Ensuring that all movement of products from; DC to Store, & Store to Store, are maintained and regularly audited for inventory integrity.



  • Minimum of 2 years management experience - required
  • Minimum of 3 years rental experience – preferred
  • Minimum of 3 year retail experience – preferred
  • Minimum of 1 years tuning and repair experience - preferred
  • Snowsports industry knowledge - preferred
  • High school diploma or equivalent - required
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office applications - required
  • English fluency - required
  • Excellent communications skills both written and verbal - required
  • Self-motivated with the ability to multi-task - required
  • Familiarity with rental and retail POS systems - preferred
