Job Summary: 

The Ski Patrol Manager assists in managing and overseeing the Stowe Ski Patrol. This is a managerial position tasked with performing normal job functions of Ski Patrol and providing a high level of supervision to Patrol staff. The Patrol Manager must be capable of prioritizing and strategizing all facets of the job with the intent of aligning the team with the core competencies of the Company. Other duties can be assigned as needed. Ski patrol is a highly visible role on the mountain and this position requires active engagement with guests and employees.

 

Job Responsibilities:

  • Overseeing the day to day operations of Stowe Ski Patrol with up to 60 employees; overseeing all facets of guest service, guest safety, mountain safety, medical care, mountain maintenance and lift evacuation.
  • Administrative duties such as goal setting, performance management, performance appraisals, overseeing and ensuring the quality assurance of training, scheduling, work comp, payroll, budget management and anything else necessary for the successful operation of the Stowe Ski Patrol.
  • Will be able to function appropriately in the absence of the Ski Patrol Director.
  • Will work closely with other on mountain departments and managers and third party agencies.
  • Extensive knowledge of mountain operations, including but not limited to: snowmaking, slope maintenance, risk management, terrain parks, lift maintenance, race crew, lift operations, mountain safety, mountain dining, special events, and transportation.
  • Demonstrates effective supervisory skills with regards to motivation (morale and positive reinforcement), disciplinary and corrective action, and documented mid and end of season review.
  • Demonstrates effective communication skills and strong guest service skills
  • Influences a positive culture, leads change, empowers the workforce and drives employee engagement.
  • Other duties as assigned

 

Job Qualifications:

  • Must have at least 3 years supervisory experience - required
  • Must have at least 5 years of ski patrol experience - required
  • Must have valid EMS License - required
  • Must be an advanced skier/snowboarder and must be able to navigate all terrain in any condition at Stowe.
  • Must be proficient in administrative computer applications.
  • Must be able to handle conflict with diplomacy and tact.
  • Must be able to work in inclement weather in a high alpine environment.
  • Must be able to work weekends and holidays as required.
  • Must have a clean driving record.

 

Preferred skills:

  • Associates or Bachelors Degree from an accredited University.
  • ICS 100 or above

 

The expected pay range is $52,800 - $73,830 + annual bonus. This is the pay range we reasonably expect to pay for this position. Individual compensation decisions are based on a variety of factors.
