Job Summary

Ensure all scheduled preventative maintenance is completed within manufactures timeline and/or as required by federal/state guidelines. Responsible for the year round daily/nightly operations of lift maintenance. Ensure all departmental safety programs are followed.  Responsible for the timely and fiscally operation of Lift Maintenance.  Position requires knowledge of lift operations and related regulatory compliance. 


Job Responsibilities

  • Report to work on time when scheduled.
  • Report to work in proper dress or uniform and groomed appropriately.
  • Observe all employee rules and regulations.
  • Observe all applicable safety standards.
  • Demonstrate positive attitude, especially in area of customer service.
  • Be familiar with the operation of machinery and procedures for all lifts.
  • Must be familiar with state/federal Tramway codes and conduct public transportation systems according to required regulatory/insurance standards.
  • Immediately report to management any operating condition that is outside of state/federal and company policy or code.
  • Report to the management any maintenance activities performed.
  • Perform all needed maintenance activities for the functional parts of lifts, associated buildings and ramps.
  • Diagnose and repair mechanical/electrical malfunctions.
  • Ensure all equipment and areas are kept in neat, orderly, safe and efficient operation condition.
  • Ensure cooperation with other company employees to expedite work.
  • Maintain and track all company tools and assets.
  • Assist with the development of the Mt. Operations budget.
  • Maintain records of all maintenance activity.
  • Ensure staffing meets operational needs keeping within a set payroll budget.
  • Conduct safety meetings as required.
  • Conduct formal performance evaluations.
  • Act as liaison between outside contractors and Stowe Mountain Resort.


Job Requirements


  • Lift operations experience required.
  • 8 years supervisory experience required.
  • Valid driver's license and clean driving record required.
  • Must be able to or be able to learn to drive snowmobiles and ATV's.
  • Must be able to very heavy work (defined as exerting in excess of 100 pounds of force occasionally and/or in excess of 50 pounds of force frequently and/or in excess of 20 pounds of force constantly to move objects).
  • Visual acuity necessary for computer terminal use, for extensive reading, for visual inspection involving small defects and small parts, using measurement devices, for inspection involving quality control and assembly or fabrication of parts at distances close to the eye or where the seeing job is at or within arms reach.
  • Ability to perform physical activities that include climbing, balancing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, crawling, reaching, standing, walking, pushing, pulling, lifting, fingering, grasping, feeling, talking, hearing and repetitive motions.
  • Attentiveness to creating a quality experience for the guests.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with customers and co-workers understanding that areas of direct responsibility dramatically affect the quality of the guest experience.
  • Ability to use, or learn to use, the following equipment: telephone, 2-way radio, computer.
  • Proven experience material requisitioning, recruiting, selecting, training and evaluating staff required.
  • Ability to work in an environment where there is sufficient noise to cause the employee to shout in order to be heard above the ambient noise level.
  • Ability to work in a potentially hazardous environment with exposure to a variety of physical conditions such as proximity to moving mechanical parts and electrical current.
  • Environment:  Primarily outdoors, often in severe weather conditions.
  • Required Hours: Generally 10 hours per day 5-6 days per week.  A flexible schedule that includes weekends, holidays and odd hours is required.



  • Electrical, welding and hydraulic experience preferred.
