Stowe Mountain Resort is seeking a full time, year round Building Maintenance Electrician. Under the supervision of the Building Maintenance Management and working in concert with the department lead electrician, the Building Maintenance Electrician will assist in the maintenance, troubleshooting, repair and replacement of the Resort’s electrical systems and components. The Electrician must also perform general maintenance tasks for the Resort’s unique infrastructure as part of a team.

 

Job duties include, but are not limited to:

  • Provide preventative and predictive maintenance of electrical systems, conduct daily rounds and readings.
  • Perform successful installation and repair of electrical systems and wiring including but not limited to: power distribution systems, LED lighting systems, control systems, control panels, components of machinery and equipment, data and low voltage systems.
  • Complete daily work orders as assigned and update team with daily reports outlining progress and new issues.
  • Work in collaboration with contractors/vendors to complete work.
  • Maintain inventories of electrical materials.
  • Perform maintenance job functions as needed or directed, including but not limited to basic repairs of Resort’s MEP infrastructure, equipment and utilities.
  • Participate in winterization and spring start-ups on applicable systems.
  • Work independently and alongside other staff members as a coworker and team member performing same.
  • Requests materials, parts, tools and equipment needed for work assignments; prepares cost estimates for jobs. 
  • Communicate with managerial and technical personnel, other departments, and contractors in order to resolve problems and to coordinate activities.
  • Troubleshoot problems and provide technical assistance to staff in solving maintenance, mechanical and repair problems. 
  • Ensure that work complies with applicable codes and regulations. 
  • Read diagrams, blueprints, specifications and manuals for installation and repair projects. 
  • Prepare a variety of correspondence, procedures and periodic and special reports of work performed. 
  • Uses standard office equipment, including a computer, in the course of the work
  • Drives company vehicles to work sites and attend meetings.

Qualifications include:

  • High School graduate or equivalent.
  • Valid State of Vermont Journeyman’s Electrician license (4th year apprentice may be considered).
  • 5 years minimum hands-on commercial or industrial electrical experience.
  • Demonstrated ability to perform a wide variety of maintenance and operational tasks.
  • Ability to troubleshoot controls and electrical systems with amp meters, voltmeters, tracers and recording devices.
  • Ability to read electrical schematics, electrical prints, wiring diagrams and nameplates.
  • Ability to trouble-shoot variable frequency drive (VFD) devices and controls.
  • Thorough understanding of low voltage and high voltage systems.
  • Thorough understanding of single phase and three phase AC circuits.
  • Understanding of Vermont adopted electrical codes.
  • Extensive technical knowledge of the installation, repair and maintenance of facility systems.
  • Valid driver’s license and clean driving record.
  • Ability to determine problems and effectively manage/troubleshoot issues in a timely fashion.
  • Must possess willingness to work as a team member and lend assistance to the overall needs of the department and resort.
  • Ability to communicate (spoken and written) effectively and clearly to customers and all levels of staff.
  • Proficient computer skills in programs necessary to accomplish assigned duties.
  • Visual acuity necessary to prepare and analyze data and figures for reporting, computer terminal use and reading.
  • Ability to perform physical activities that include climbing, balancing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, crawling, reaching, standing, walking, pushing, pulling, lifting, fingering, grasping, feeling, talking, hearing and repetitive motions.
  • Ability to use ladders, scaffolding, and/or scissor lift while performing duties.
  • Ability to work at heights, in confined spaces and ride lifts and other resort transportation.
  • Ability to work with power tools and small motorized equipment.
  • Possess high degree of sensitivity to accepted workplace safety practices.
  • Must be able to perform heavy work (defined as exerting up to 100 pounds of force occasionally and/or up to 50 pounds of force frequently and/or up to 20 pounds of force constantly to move objects).
