Job Summary: 

The Custodial Manager is responsible for the custodial outcomes at Stowe Mountain Resort.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Establish and maintain Resort Facility custodial standards consistent with generally accepted public buildings and our customer’s expectations.  Inspect/audit facilities daily for compliance with standards.
  • Responsible for managing staff outcomes.
  • Responsible for hiring and training the most qualified applicants.
  • Responsible for scheduling of staff.
  • Responsible for ensuring that all custodial tasks are conducted in a safe workplace environment.
  • Conduct weekly staff meeting.  Agenda: workplace safety, Resort Calendar, Hospitality Calendar, routine & non-routine tasks, weekly scheduling, practices and procedures, and staff feedback.                                                                  
  • Responsible for providing custodial service to contracted parties.  Communicate with contract representative to ensure contract is being executed to accepted standards.
  • Attend and participate in the weekly Operations Meeting.
  • Proactively communicate with the Facilities Maintenance management to ensure timely response to facilities maintenance custodial requirements.    
  • Implement fiscal year budget.  Ability to define then explain wage and expense variances.  
  • Control inventory of custodial supplies by maintaining inventory records. 
  • Research, purchase, and maintain all necessary machinery and tools.
  • Lead by example. Set proper appearance and conduct standards for custodial staff.

 

Job Qualifications:

  • Two-year college education or equivalent.
  • Proven ability to manage and supervise staff performing hands-on duties.
  • Must possess strong organizational skills with the ability to follow up.
  • Must possess proven ability to manage, delegate, direct and motivate subordinates
  • Understanding of Resort’s customer expectation.
  • Must demonstrate high degree of energy and self-motivation; must possess the ability to adapt quickly to change.
  • Must possess good interpersonal skills in order to communicate effectively with guests, staff, management, other departments, and “3rd party” customers.
  • Ability to determine problems and effectively manage the situation in a timely fashion.
  • Possess high degree of sensitivity to accepted workplace safety practices.
  • Must possess visual acuity necessary to prepare and analyze data and figures.
  • Visual acuity necessary to do general writing and reading, preparing and analyzing data and figures, accounting, and computer terminal.
  • Must possess ability to perform heavy work (defined as exerting up to 100 pounds of force occasionally and/or up to 50 pounds of force frequently and/or up to 20 pounds of force constantly to move objects). 
  • Must possess ability to perform physical activities which include reaching, standing, walking, lifting, fingering, grasping, feeling, talking, hearing and repetitive motions.
  • Must possess valid Vermont driver’s license.

 

The expected pay range is $25/hour. This is the pay range we reasonably expect to pay for this position. Individual compensation decisions are based on a variety of factors.
