Job Summary
Stowe Mountain Resort’s Building Maintenance Department is responsible for the appearance and operation of all resort buildings. The Advanced Building Maintenance Technician is technically competent on all building systems, possesses the leadership qualities that exemplify our values and is a champion for our efforts in safety.
Job Specifications:
- Expected Pay Range $21.00 - $32.88 / hour
- Shift & Schedule Availability: Full Time, Year Round
- Skill Level: Advanced
Job Responsibilities:
- Perform preventative maintenance and repair on general building elements. This includes interior and exterior surfaces and construction elements, windows, doors, furniture, casework, and other building systems.
- Perform daily building inspections as assigned. This includes a check of all building systems (life safety, electrical, plumbing, HVAC, etc.) and a condition/safety inspection of the interior and exterior of the assigned building. Create work orders to address issues.
- Complete assigned work orders in order to address guest and departmental requests
- Maintain all facilities, tools and operating systems in a secure, safe and efficient working order
- Complete tasks in a safe and timely manner
- Perform snow and ice removal tasks
- Make improvements to department processes and suggest new and improved ways of working.
- Assist and/or perform certain repairs of plumbing and mechanical systems, kitchen equipment, lighting, etc.
- Communicate effectively with facility managers, employees, contractors and other departments to coordinate work and provide updates regarding work status – verbally and in writing
- Provide hands on and formal training to entry and intermediate maintenance staff when required.
- Maintain accurate records of all work activities: Track time and materials, turn in appropriate paperwork, ensure all billable time is appropriately allocated
- Perform facility condition assessments, report elements that require attention and enter corrective work orders.
- Plan, scope and coordinate departmental projects with limited direction. Obtain materials lists and required estimates.
- Plan, scope and coordinate projects with sub-contractors when required and obtain the required estimates.
- Order/request and maintain required inventory of materials for assigned areas. Determine required stock levels for common use materials.
- Abide by all safety & environmental rules and regulations from corporate, State and Federal agencies. Complete all required training. Follow all standard operating procedures.
- Provide team leadership as needed and in the absence of the manager
- Other duties as assigned
Job Requirements:
- 10 years of trade or facilities maintenance experience or equivalent based on education and experience.
- High school diploma or completion of a trade school or trade certificate program is required. A more advanced degree (Associates or Bachelor’s degree) is preferred
- Competency in general and finish carpentry, dry wall, flooring, painting, building system installations including doors & door hardware, windows, flashing, roofing, masonry, tile, refinishing
- Proficiency with computer programs including Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel), Computerized Maintenance Management Systems (CMMS-Fiix), Building Automation Systems and controls.
- Familiarity with electronic building access systems (card, FOB, keypad), programming & troubleshooting
- Possess a working knowledge of plumbing, mechanical, electrical, and kitchen equipment
- Understand and read blueprints

- Must be able to work a flexible schedule with seasonal weekend, night, and holiday requirements
- Must be comfortable working outside in extreme weather conditions
- Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs., work at heights, work from ladders, work in utility spaces, work in remote locations, and use resort transportation (ride lifts, groomer, ATV/UTV)
- Valid US Driver's License – ability to drive various company vehicles
- Must be able to work unsupervised as well as part of team
- Must work well with others in a team environment and individually
- Job requires standing for long periods of time, frequent walking, reaching, climbing and good balance, kneeling, crouching, and crawling.
- Knowledge of proper use of power tools, hand tools and other industry equipment
The expected pay range is $21.00 - $32.88. This is the pay range we reasonably expect to pay for this position. Individual compensation decisions are based on a variety of factors.
