Based in Ludlow, VT/OKEMO preferably, or STOWE, VT, this role will drive the development and implementation of talent development initiatives for three of our Northeast ski resorts, Okemo, Mount Sunapee and Stowe. We are looking for someone who will be strategic and solutions oriented with strong leadership, consulting and talent development expertise. The person in this role should have a strong ability to develop relationships with senior leaders, HR business partners and other functional groups to deliver on enterprise Talent Development strategy, programs and initiatives.  The Senior Manager will report directly to the Director of Talent Development.

ESSENTIAL JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Help define and deepen Vail Resorts leadership, team, and organizational change strategies and processes
  • Routinely contribute to the design or improvement of offerings to attain and maintain enterprise-wide leadership in delivering world-class learning curriculum, programs, and experiences
  • Help manage current project development process to create thought-provoking, engaging, and results-driven talent driven programs
  • Ensure ROI from programs, curriculums, and delivery practices
  • Assume global accountability to deliver talent development strategies and resources with regional relevance
  • Conduct regular internal consulting with local senior leadership team and HR leaders to analyze and assist with leadership, team and culture development needs. (Assessment, analysis, diagnosis, intervention, etc.). 
  • Design and develop enterprise-wide HR solutions based on specialized knowledge for all Talent Development programs, including performance management, goal setting, leadership talent reviews, and succession planning.
  • Develop and deliver programs targeted at high performing team and employee development
  • Partner directly with operational leaders and HR to align talent and business needs.  
  • Responsible for some local administration related to Vail Resort’s Learning Management System (LMS).
  • Manage local TD budget including budget creation, expense reporting and annual capital planning.   
  • Management of one direct report, Talent Development Senior Specialist.

 

 

JOB REQUIREMENTS: 

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Business, OD/Leadership, HR or related field.  Advanced degree (Masters/PhD) preferred.
  • Minimum of 5-7 years directly related experience, preferably in a medium-large company or consultancy. 
  • Demonstrated experience building and maintaining business relationships, utilizing internal consulting skills
  • Experience designing enterprise-wide talent development programs - global process development and deployment experience a plus
  • Experience working in large, complex organizations with well-developed skills in Change Management, Organizational Development consulting, Teaching, Coaching, Learning Strategies, and Process Improvement
  • Experience measuring the impact of talent management programs and initiatives
  • Ability to successfully build relationships and interact with all levels in the organization, including executives
  • Strong team player with honed communication skills, high degree of professional maturity and executive level presence. 
  • Able to handle an extremely fast-paced corporate environment
  • On-line curriculum development a plus
  • Maintains professional awareness of the most effective learning and development methodologies and strategies through continuing education and affiliation with professional OD and training organizations in order to recommend programs and perspectives to corporate management
  • Previous management experience including mentoring and remote management.
  • Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists.

  • Must be willing to travel between three northeast resorts – 25 - 40 % of the time.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office suite
