Job Summary

The Assistant Manager, Base Area Operations is a key member of the Resort Senior Leadership Team and provides leadership and operational oversight for Products, Sales & Services, Snow Tubing Operations, and coordinates Parking & Facilities Maintenance. This role is responsible for delivering an exceptional guest arrival experience while achieving departmental safety, staffing, operational, and guest service objectives.

Through strong leadership and cross-functional collaboration, the Assistant Manager ensures base area operations are safe, efficient, welcoming, and aligned with resort goals and values. The role also oversees the appearance and upkeep of guest-facing base area facilities and grounds through coordination of maintenance activities.

Job Responsibilities: 

  •   
  • Provide overall leadership and operational oversight for Products, Sales & Services, Snow Tubing Operations, and Base Area Facilities Coordination.
  • Serve as a member of the Resort Senior Leadership Team, contributing to operational planning, staffing strategies, business objectives, and overall resort performance.
  • Lead and develop department Leads and frontline teams while fostering a culture focused on safety, accountability, teamwork, and guest service excellence.
  • Establish and execute operational plans that support guest experience, employee engagement, safety, and financial objectives.
  • Oversee staffing strategies including hiring, onboarding, training, scheduling, performance management, and employee development.
  • Partner with resort departments to coordinate peak-period operations, special events, weather response plans, and guest demand forecasts.
  • Monitor guest feedback and operational performance metrics to continuously improve the guest experience and support service recovery efforts.
  • Ensure Products, Sales & Services and Tubing Operations are maintained and operated in accordance with company policies, procedures, and safety standards.
  • Oversee the appearance, cleanliness, maintenance, and guest readiness of base area facilities, grounds, and public spaces.
  • Coordinate facility maintenance, repair projects, and grounds upkeep with internal departments and external vendors to ensure a safe and welcoming environment.
  • Monitor departmental budgets, labor performance, payroll, operating expenses, and efficiency metrics.
  • Serve as Manager on Duty as assigned and provide leadership support during emergencies, operational incidents, and peak business periods.
  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives that enhance operational efficiency, employee engagement, safety performance, and guest satisfaction.
  • Perform other duties as assigned

Job Requirements: 

  • 3+ years of leadership or supervisory experience in hospitality, recreation, guest services, resort operations, or a related field.
  • Proven ability to lead teams and manage multiple operational areas simultaneously.
  • Strong guest service, communication, and problem-solving skills.
  • Experience with hiring, training, scheduling, and performance management.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office and business systems.
  • Valid driver's license.
  • Ability to work a flexible schedule including weekends, evenings, holidays, and peak operating periods.
  • Ability to work both indoors and outdoors in varying weather conditions.

Preferred:

  • Experience in ski resort, mountain operations, attractions, hospitality, or recreation operations.
  • Budget and labor management experience.
  • Experience leading seasonal workforces

 

The expected pay range is $52,000.00 - $64,064.00. This is the pay range we reasonably expect to pay for this position. Individual compensation decisions are based on a variety of factors.
