  • The budgeted range starts at $52,000 - $59,660.  Actual pay will be adjusted based on experience.

Job Summary:

The Mountain Activities Assistant Manager, Maintenance will be responsible for managing and overseeing the Mountain Activities Maintenance Team. They will report to the Manager of Mountain Activities and will work alongside the Assistant Manager. This individual will need to be highly self-motivated to provide timely maintenance for the Adventure Park with an emphasis on: safety, guest service and compliance of the Adventure Park Activities.

 

Job Responsibilities:

  • Become the maintenance expert on the Activities of the Park City Adventure Park.
  • Read and understand the contents of the manufacturer’s maintenance manuals and specifications for all Activities in the Park City Adventure Park.
  • Based on manufacturer’s recommendations, implement a program of maintenance, testing and inspections providing for the duties and responsibilities necessary in the care of each amusement ride or device.
  • Oversee the maintenance inspection, repair and training programs for the Adventure Park Activities: Alpine Slide, Mountain Coaster, Flying Eagle Zipline, Kid’s Rope’s Course and Zipline, Bungee Trampolines, Climbing Wall, Mini Golf, Gem Panning, ZipRider Zipline and other activities as needed.
  • Manage the maintenance team: training, compliance, scheduling, discipline, seasonal reviews, work wellbeing.
  • Responsible for ensuring all required Manufacture, State and Federal regulations are met.
  • Ensure required inspections and compliance are performed as mandated by Manufactures, State and Federal guidelines.
  • Responsible for scheduling inspections, maintaining and providing all compliance requirements regarding inspections.
  • Correspond with Manufacturers and be the contact person for reviewing and implementing updates and notices.
  • Develop strong professional relationships with appropriate departments (Lift Maintenance, Building maintenance, Vehicle Maintenance, Snow Surfaces, etc) and work with Inspectors and Agents during inspections.
  • Coordinate all seasonal set-up, tear-down and special projects of the Adventure Park.
  • Work with Mountain Activities Manager to ensure proper adherence to Labor and OPEX budgets.
  • Execute timely ordering of OPEX items, in adherence to the budget and operating plan.
  • Assist with operations as necessary, having passed the Operations Training and be able to engage with Guests and Employees while exhibiting Vail Resorts Core Values.

Job Qualifications:

  • Previous experience working on Amusement Rides, Ski Lifts or Railroads.
  • Must have a Valid Driver’s License & Satisfactory Driving Record, in accordance with VR Drivers Policy.
  • Must be at least 18 years of age.
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Ability to work at heights up to and in excess of 160’ above the ground in a physically demanding environment.
  • Ability to lift 75 lbs.
  • Able to perform physical work: stand, stoop, lift, pull, push for long periods of time and perform repetitive motions.
  • Able to work outside in all weather conditions in a high alpine environment.
  • Mechanical background and aptitude.
  • Able to use a variety of tools ranging from basic hand tools, power tools and heavy machinery.
  • Able to work in confined spaces.
  • Ability to work weekends, holidays, mornings and evenings.
  • Strong communication skills.
  • Basic computer skills and ability to learn and adapt to different computer programs and applications. (Outlook, Microsoft applications, SmartSheet, Procurement Applications, Scheduling software, Payroll software, etc).
  • Able to communicate clearly with Guests and other Employees and are fluent in spoken and written English.
  • Experience working with, or ability to learn, a wide variety of specialty equipment such as reach forklift, skid steer, snowblower, snow mobile, truck and trailer, UTV, etc.
  • Knowledge of rigging techniques.
  • Industry certifications or willingness to achieve them (NAARSO, AIMS, ACCT, SPRAT)
  • Zipline, Mountain Coaster, Rope Courses, Lift Operations and other operational experience relevant to outdoor adventure activities, preferred.

 

The expected pay range is $52,000 - $59,660. This is the pay range we reasonably expect to pay for this position. Individual compensation decisions are based on a variety of factors.
