Job Title: Regional Compliance Manager Northeast

Job Summary:

The Regional Compliance Manager will be responsible for leading Corporate Compliance and Environmental Compliance efforts for the Vail Resorts Northeast operations including Stowe, Okemo and Mount Sunapee. This role will work with leadership and employees across business units to advance the compliance programs within the Northeast. Responsibilities include project management of compliance programs including environmental compliance (air pollution control, hazardous materials management, hazardous and universal waste management, water quality), local corporate compliance training, and monitoring and auditing activities. The Regional Compliance Manager is also expected to represent Vail Resorts and our Northeast resorts in environmental matters with the local communities and public agencies. This will include management and coordination of the Vermont Act 250 regulatory requirements.

Job Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Drive corporate compliance programs including local implementation of culture and training initiatives, policy management programs, and monitoring and auditing projects across the Northeast resorts.
  • Design and implement corporate compliance monitoring and auditing projects to mitigate enterprise-wide compliance risks.
  • Initiate, oversee, and implement the environmental compliance program across the Northeast resorts.
  • Be an environmental compliance leader that drives innovative programs that inspire our employees which include air pollution control, hazardous materials management, hazardous and universal waste management, water quality.
  • Responsible for program management and oversight of environmental compliance program for on-mountain operations and hospitality. This includes the implementation of enterprise-wide air pollution control, hazardous materials management, hazardous and universal waste management, water quality programs, training operations groups, performing inspections, and auditing. 
  • Review and analyze environmental documentation issued by the federal EPA, state and local regulatory agencies and determine impact on company operations. Liaise with Environmental Compliance leadership to publish compliance strategies and requirements.
  • Establish permit requirements and assists in EPA, state and local regulatory audits.
  • Support corporate compliance programs including local implementation of culture and training initiatives, policy management program, and monitoring and auditing projects.
  • Liaise with local leadership, mountain operations and health & safety teams to monitor compliance risks.
  • Support continued deployment of Enablon to manage inspections, audits, recordkeeping, and reporting.
  • Effectively communicate environmental compliance through various channels that will demonstrate leadership and drive employee engagement and reduce compliance risks.
  • Be a change champion for Ethics and our Do Right value and all associated programs.

 

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree
  • Engineering degree preferred
  • 5+ years of experience managing projects in fast-paced, cross-functional environment
  • Self-starter; demonstrated ability to work unsupervised
  • Excellent learning agility and ability to adapt in a fast-paced environment and evolving team dynamic
  • Strong oral and written communication skills
  • Ability to manage upwards
  • Proficient in identifying and resolving issues independently – solid sense of accountability and sound personal judgement
  • Ability to work with Sr. Level management and executives
  • Competent ski and/or snowboard abilities required
  • Hands-on, technical experience with environmental programs and policies
  • Ability to travel required
