Job Summary

The Program Director will lead all aspects of the Competition Center at Okemo Mountain Resort. The scope of this role is large and varied, and includes responsibilities around the daily and seasonal operational processes and strategic goals specific to the Competition Center. Continued development and implementation of strategic vision is key. This position requires a disciplined focus on quality control, guest relations, sales generation, staff performance, team leadership, financial responsibility, communication, teamwork, administrative duties and self-development. All of these elements contribute significantly to the employee and guest experience. This position will work closely with Okemo Mountain School and OMARA to continue to support our coaches, athletes and families. This position sits on the Resort Leadership Team and reports directly to Director of Skier Services. As posted, this is a seasonal position, with a duration of 8 months. Employment will begin Sept. 1 and extend through April 30th.

 

Job Responsibilities

  • Coach, motivate, develop and retain Competition Center Staff comprised of coaches, race crew, administrators and management. Oversee completion of performance appraisals for all staff.
  • Oversight of all staff hiring for the Competition Center.
  • Ensure successful execution of all US Ski & Snowboard, USASA and VARA sponsored events and competitions held at Okemo Mountain Resort.
  • Responsible for all financial aspects of the competition center, including revenue, labor, expenses, monthly/end of season P&L’s and workers comp.
  • Oversee maintenance of all Competition Center related facilities and equipment.
  • Manage program issues relating to coach/staff pay, guest issues and system efficiency. He or she will manage the growth and expense of all Competition Center programs.
  • Meet or exceed all goals for Guest Satisfaction, Employee Engagement and Safety.
  • Partner and collaborate with internal Okemo departments to ensure a consistent and high level experience for guests and employees.

 

 

Job Requirements

 

Required:

  • Minimum of 5 Years management/leadership experience within the snow sports competition industry
  • US Ski & Snowboard Level 200 Certified Coach, Safesport trained and certified
  • US Ski & Snowboard Certified Official
  • High level of proficiency in MS Office applications
  • Demonstrated organizational and communication skills
  • Strong intrapersonal skills and ability to work as part of a team
  • Basic accounting and finance skills
  • Ability to lift 50 lbs
  • Ability to work outside in variable conditions for long periods of time
  • High School Diploma or Equivalent

 

Preferred:

 

  • 4 Year College Degree
  • Previous Program Director Experience
  • Prior Experience working and collaborating with local, regional and snow sports boards and committees.
  • US Ski & Snowboard 300/400 Certified Coach
