Job Summary:

Culinary Assistant General Manager (AGM) Monte Wolfe’s | Kirkwood Mountain Resort

From lift line to lunch line – Monte Wolfe’s has you covered. We are seeking a passionate and organized Culinary Assistant General Manager (AGM) to help lead daily back-of-house and culinary-aligned operations at Monte Wolfe’s, the heart of Kirkwood’s dining scene and its busiest on-mountain restaurant. Located in the vibrant Village base area, this high-volume, cafeteria-style venue serves hundreds of skiers and snowboarders daily with hearty breakfasts, satisfying lunches, a bustling après-ski bar, and an outdoor mountain grill experience.

This role is perfect for a food-focused leader who thrives in fast-paced environments, works seamlessly across FOH and BOH teams, and has a hands-on, service-first leadership style. The Culinary AGM will ensure seamless food execution, team coordination, and quality service in every shift.

 

Job Specifications:

Job Responsibilities:

Culinary & Service Operations

  • Oversee and coordinate all culinary service zones including cafeteria line, grab-and-go, grill, and hot food stations.
  • Maintain food quality, freshness, and timely replenishment during high-volume meal periods.
  • Ensure BOH and FOH alignment for smooth food flow and rapid service delivery.
  • Assist with daily opening/closing duties, equipment checks, food safety protocols, and prep coordination.
  • Monitor, track, and maintain accurate inventory of all food, beverage, and kitchen supplies; conduct regular counts, record usage, and coordinate with vendors to ensure timely orders and minimal waste.

Team Supervision & Leadership

  • Support training and daily leadership for a cross-functional team including cooks, line servers, cashiers, and bar staff.
  • Foster a culture of teamwork, communication, and culinary professionalism.
  • Provide real-time coaching and shift guidance, escalating issues to the GM when necessary.
  • Help manage daily staffing adjustments based on business levels and weather-driven traffic.

Guest Experience & Quality Control

  • Ensure all meals are served to standard and that food presentation, cleanliness, and guest service are upheld.
  • Assist in resolving guest concerns professionally and promptly, especially related to food and beverage service.
  • Create a welcoming dining atmosphere that balances speed, efficiency, and hospitality.

Safety, Cleanliness & Sustainability

  • Uphold all food safety, sanitation, and cleanliness standards across culinary areas.
  • Lead and train staff on sustainable waste sorting and recycling efforts in support of Vail Resorts’ Commitment to Zero goals.
  • Maintain clean and functional kitchen.

 

Job Requirements:

  • 2–4 years of leadership experience in culinary, quick-service, or high-volume food environments
  • Serve Safe Manager certification (or ability to obtain within 30 days)
  • Proven ability to lead fast-paced shifts with a positive and guest-focused mindset
  • Strong multitasking, communication, and time-management skills
  • Working knowledge of food safety practices and BOH/FOH coordination
  • Willingness to work weekends, holidays, and in winter mountain conditions
  • Ability to stand for extended periods and lift up to 50lbs

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Culinary background in resort, cafeteria, or quick-service operations
  • Familiarity with bar operations and service workflows
  • A passion for mountain life, skiing, or snowboarding is a bonus!

 

 

The expected pay range is Starting at $25.00/hr. This is the pay range we reasonably expect to pay for this position. Individual compensation decisions are based on a variety of factors.
