JOB SUMMARY: 

The Grooming Manager is responsible for the year round oversight and coordination of the Grooming and Trail Maintenance department including some summer construction projects. To ensure a consistent and safe product for our employees and guests.  This is achieved through financial management, teamwork, planning, employee development, quality control and strong leadership.  This position assists with the development, communication and implementation of Resort goals and initiatives while developing and maintaining strong working relationships both internally and externally.

 

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Maintain a cohesive and exceptional product that aligns mountain operations goals while contributing to overall resort and corporate goals and initiatives.
  • Lead the mountain operations effort to improve employee and guest safety and eliminate employee incidents. 
  • Increase operational efficiency and effectiveness through on-going intra and inter-departmental communication and cooperation especially (but not limited to) fleet maintenance, snowmaking, terrain parks, ski patrol, lift maintenance, lift operations, mountain dining and the race department.
  • Oversee department budgets and capital projects while tracking performance to expectations.
  • Executing grooming operations to produce one of the finest snow surface products in the industry, in continuation of the Keystone brand.
  • Develop leaders within the mountain operations organization to improve leadership within current roles and to prepare for increased responsibility/succession.
  • Ensure effective hiring, training, coaching, and discipline.
  • Drive the mountain operations culture and the overall Keystone resort culture to create optimal engagement of employees- providing the experience of a lifetime for our staff and ensuring that they provide it for our guests.
  • Actively participate in enterprise wide best practice groups relevant to operating departments with a focus on driving local and companywide results.
  • Ensure compliance with all local, state and federal regulations, including OSHA, SWPPP, water reporting, etc. 

 

JOB QUALIFICATIONS:

Required:

  • Valid Driver’s License and clean DMV record.
  • 5+ years of experience in mountain operations.
  • 5+ years of supervisory experience.
  •  Expert-level skiing and/or snowboarding ability.
  • Ability to speak, read and write effectively in English.
  • Ability to operate proficiently with Microsoft Office Suite and other VRI software as necessary.
  • Ability to stand for long periods of time.
  • Ability to lift and carry 75lbs.

Preferred:

  • Knowledge of Keystone Mountain operations
  • Previous experience with grooming, summer construction projects
  • Previous experience as a groomer or winch cat operator
  • Previous mechanical or heavy equipment experience

 

The budgeted range starts at $50,000 - $60,900 + annual bonus.  Actual pay will be adjusted based on experience.
