Job Summary:

We are seeking a talented Senior Manager of Executive Communications  to set internal and external communications strategies for our executive team. In collaboration with colleagues from across the business, you will craft messaging and advise leadership on a variety of complex announcements and initiatives. Reporting to the Director of Corporate Communications, this role is responsible for promoting Vail Resorts and our values through the lens of our most senior leaders.


This leader be responsible for developing, organizing and executing strategic communications programs for executives, including internal communications, company announcements, media engagements and appearances at industry, government and thought leadership events. You will ensure a consistent tone and narrative; master the management of our communications channels, and work to differentiate Vail Resorts as a trusted company and world-class employer of choice. You will know and understand what is happening across our organization and surface stories that matter to the company and to our culture. 

The ideal candidate is a highly motivated, well-seasoned communications professional that possesses sound judgment and impeccable writing skills. This role will take abstract and complicated issues and turn them into simple and powerful narratives. This position offers an incredible opportunity to create highly impactful executive communications for one of the largest players in the Travel + Leisure space.


You will play a leadership role on the Communications team, a central function responsible for promoting Vail Resorts and its values; each of our world-class resorts; and the product that provides guests with unrivaled access to all of them, the Epic Pass. As the supervisor of a PR Manager, you will be expected to attract, retain and develop strong leaders through coaching and professional development.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Apply superb organizational skills to the management of high-level communications opportunities, both internally and externally;
  • Serve as speechwriter to senior executives for international audiences, including driving the creation and delivery of compelling, executive-level presentation materials (slides, scripts, messaging documents, and media briefs) for Vail Resorts’ senior leadership;
  • Identify and leverage key communication milestones and opportunities to drive awareness of our company’s values-driven work;
  • Build powerful relationships with multiple partners across Vail Resorts including HR, IT, Operations, Communications, all Marketing functions and other divisions to achieve business goals;
  • Serve as a leader in both Communications, HR, and Marketing, working closely with other leaders to achieve Vail Resorts’ strategic priorities;
  • Successfully manage complex, fast-moving and unexpected communications challenges;
  • Manage and support crisis communications, as needed, and
  • Consistently be striving to growth and develop yourself as a leader.  Be focused on unlocking the potential of our talent.

Job Qualifications:

  • 8+ years of communications experience with proven experience in executive communications;
  • Bachelor’s degree in Journalism, English, Communications, or a related field;
  • Ability to translate complicated concepts into clear, compelling language for audiences ranging from key stakeholders to media to consumers;
  • Outstanding attention to detail;
  • A highly collaborative approach;
  • Ability to manage constantly changing priorities;
  • Demonstrated interpersonal skills and ability to deal effectively with people at all levels of the organization;
  • Ability to easily transition from high level strategic thinking to creative and detailed execution
  • Proven experience and success in leading and building effective teams;
  • Strong verbal and written communication and presenting skills;
  • Proven experience in process improvement, change management and overall operational excellence;
  • Ability to anticipate potential reputational issues and exercise high judgment, particularly in narrow timeframes.


The budgeted range starts at $89,100 - $121,305 + annual bonus.  Actual pay will be adjusted based on experience.
