Senior Manager Compliance - HR Compliance Policies, Monitoring and Reporting

 

Vail Resorts is looking for a Senior Manager Compliance - HR Compliance Policies, Monitoring and Reporting, reporting to the Vice President Compliance. This individual is responsible for monitoring changes to all labor employment regulations, updating and/or creating new policies and monitoring and reporting on HR compliance controls and metrics. This individual will design HR compliance risk assessments, and support the HR Compliance team and functions with risk assessment execution, risk prioritization and development of controls to drive compliance with regulations. The Sr. Manager Compliance also leads reporting of municipal, state and federal labor employment reporting requirements. This position works collaboratively with Labor Employment Law, HR Compliance and HR functions to align on priorities and drive compliance throughout the organization, and has one direct report. This individual is a member of the Compliance Leadership Team and supports broader compliance initiatives, as needed.

  • The budgeted range starts at $99,900 - $135,120 + annual bonus.  Actual pay will be adjusted based on experience.

Job Responsibilities

  • Develops and executes the HR Compliance Policies, Monitoring and Reporting strategy and annual work plan, aligned with legal regulatory requirements and risks.
  • Prepares and executes on a prioritized list of initiatives for each fiscal year.
  • Develops and implements an HR Compliance Risk Assessment, aligned to the enterprise risk model.
  • Conducts regulatory horizon scanning on a continuous basis to identify changes in federal, state, provincial and local regulations and employment laws that affect the company.
  • Responsible for HR Compliance policy updates and/or development to support regulatory changes.
  • Partners with HR Compliance and HR functions to drive policy changes and consults on process, procedure and control development.
  • Owns the Company’s Team Member Handbook and updates.
  • Develops and maintains HR Compliance monitoring and auditing plan.
  • Conducts compliance audits on HR compliance policies and procedures and drafts audit reports on results and remediation recommendations. Monitors known risks, internal control effectiveness, and the remediation of process deficiencies.
  • Identifies and discusses emerging compliance issues with leadership and develops and presents compliance reporting to stakeholders, as necessary.
  • Partners with the HR Compliance, Legal and Business Operations Teams to prioritize and respond to regulatory compliance matters.
  • Supports compliance training drafting and delivery.
  • Manages team in accordance with Company’s talent philosophy and values.
  • As a member of the Compliance Leadership Team, supports broader compliance initiatives, as needed.

Job Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree
  • JD preferred
  • At least 7+ years in a HR Compliance, Auditing, Labor Employment or Consulting with at least 4+ years of experience focused on HR compliance, employment law, employee relations or related functional expertise.
  • Experience leading multi-functional teams with members that are not direct reports.
  • 2 years’ experience and success in supervising and motivating team members.
  • Clear and concise oral and written English language communication skills.
  • Excellent ability to communicate and influence effectively at all levels of the organization.
  • Practical and creative problem analysis and resolution skills.
  • Excellent organizational and project management skills.
  • Strong executive “presence” and the ability to quickly gain the confidence of clients, enhanced by a strong sense of team and outstanding people skills.
  • Integrity and commitment to the highest ethical standards and personal values, including proven ability to maintain confidentiality.
  • Ability to simultaneously handle multiple assignments and prioritize work assignments as needed to meet client needs.
  • A high level of passion and self-motivation.

Preferred Skills

  • PHR /SPHR or SHRM-CP, preferred
  • JD, preferred
  • Proficient in MS Microsoft Office Suite including Word, PowerPoint and Tableau
  • Advanced MS Excel skills
  • Experience working in Teams and SmartSheets a plus

 

The expected Total Compensation for this role is $99,900 - $135,120 + annual bonus. Individual compensation decisions are based on a variety of factors.
