Job Summary:

Vail's Enterprise Data Engineering & Enablement (EDEE) team is looking for an experienced IT program manager to drive critical and visible data projects across functions at the company. Our energetic team supports on-prem and cloud data storage solutions with a focus on analytics needs for marketing, HR, finance, hospitality, and more. This PM needs to be fluent with Jira and SDLC concepts and able to work independently on complex technologies. Attention to detail, quick communication, and excellent calendar management are a must, along with strong documentation and written skills. Reporting to the Director of Program Management, this role will help establish sustainable processes and tools for the organization across both large-scale implementations and smaller support projects. This person needs to be patient with ambiguity and able to carefully prioritize competing workstreams. A passion for the ski/resort industry is a plus but not required.

  • Expected Pay Range: $111,900 - $140,000 + annual bonus

Job Responsibilities:

  • Lead multiple enterprise data engineering projects with a team of business analysts, architects, data engineers, QA, and business stakeholders through each phase of the SDLC with clear next steps and documentation
  • Guide definition of scope and realistic project plans, identify resources needed to successfully execute project deliverables, monitor project finances, and escalate project risks with mitigation strategies in a timely way
  • Manage team's workload in combination with other projects and priorities to maximize deliverables while maintaining healthy project loads in agile sprint planning
  • Demonstrate outstanding verbal and written communication skills to leadership audiences, with the ability to simplify highly technical or complex problems into a logical presentation format
  • Serve as a subject matter expert in routinely briefing stakeholders on project delivery to support key decisions
  • Communicate with quick response times and excellent calendar management
  • Engage and proactively communicate with stakeholders to keep them informed of project status, milestones, achievements, key decisions, risks/issues, dependencies and operational planning considerations
  • Strong negotiating and consensus-building skills required
  • Ensure new requests are properly defined in Jira with success metrics before data engineers begin work
  • Use sprint planning, backlog refinement, retrospectives, and other agile ceremonies for projects across teams
  • Update Jira tickets promptly with progress, decisions, and changes in status
  • Extend grace to teammates and stakeholders, and strive to maintain a culture of trust, stability, cohesion, and excitement around our goal to deliver guests and employees The Experience of a Lifetime
  • Demonstrate timely delivery of software projects based upon the portfolio roadmap, expectations of stakeholders, and operational dependencies
  • Other duties as assigned

 

Job Qualifications:

  • 5+ years of experience managing project launches with a proven history of delivering on time and within budget
  • Strong leadership experience with diverse and outspoken stakeholders
  • Track record of effective and prepared presentations to executive management
  • Experience leading program delivery with Scrum/Agile framework and continuous process improvement
  • Proficient in Microsoft suite of products, including Outlook, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
  • Detail-oriented with strong program management competencies
  • Ability to step into projects already in progress, or in need of rescue, and effectively assume a leadership role
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills

Preferred:

  • Creative mindset around delivering projects with finite resources on fixed timelines
  • Experience with SmartSheets, Azure, Snowflake, and Confluence
  • Change management experience and ability to effect process change across an organization successfully
  • Experience with marketing and analytics
  • Understanding of and experience with skiing/snowboarding and the resort industry

 

The expected Total Compensation for this role is $111,900 - $140,000 + annual bonus.  Individual compensation decisions are based on a variety of factors.
