Job Summary:

The Director, Insurance and Risk Management reports to the Company’s Chief Accounting Officer. The primary purpose of this position is to identify, assess and mitigate or reduce property, casualty, financial and other risks to the organization. This role is responsible for the procurement of insurance across these primary lines and other lines, including management and / or establishment of the relationship with our broker and our various insurers. Additionally, this role sets and oversees our strategy for our captive insurance program, partners with our Health & Safety team to oversee our worker’s compensation program, manages the TPA for Epic Coverage (our Epic Pass assurance program). Other responsibilities include performing due diligence on potential acquisitions and leading integration efforts of acquired companies’ risk management into ours, development of analytics and actionable reporting & trending tools for our Audit Committee and Board of Directors, the Executive Committee of the Company, and other across the Company to monitor and mitigate the total cost of risk, development of risk management tools, practices, and policies to analyze and report risks, and to manage risks according to risk management framework.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Procure insurance across property, casualty and financial lines, among others, including coordination with broker on preparation of all requests for insurance quotes and updates of underwriting information and ensuring that all policies align with needs of the Company
  • Manage insurance claim process from onset to adjudication through coordination with our broker, our insurance providers and other stakeholders including internal and external legal teams
  • Collaborate and coordinate with Accounting, FP&A and others as necessary to establish budgets, update forecasts for current loss estimates and to tell the overall story of how our risk management program is impacting our financial statements
  • Partner with our Health & Safety team to oversee our workers compensation programs, including maintaining registrations, permits and other compliance requirements for self-insured and monopolistic states and procuring insurance through our broker in states where we utilize a high deductible plan. Additionally, oversee & direct creation of semi-annual actuarial analysis including coordination with FP&A, Accounting, actuary, Health & Safety and others.
  • Coordinate procurement of insurance for various HOAs that we contract with, including coordination with a variety of brokers and insurance companies and internal stakeholders
  • Oversee, through coordination with third-party broker, day to day operations of our internal insurance captive including collaborating with other internal stakeholders such as legal and tax
  • Other duties as assigned

 

Job Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree required. 10+ years of progressive experience in an equivalent position for a large, global corporation.
  • ARM, CPCU, AIC industry designations are a plus.
  • Broad risk management knowledge; thorough and current knowledge of wide variety of best practices related to risk financing, insurance coverage, markets and pricing trends.
  • Ability to build and maintain strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Strong project management skills and the ability to simultaneously manage multiple tasks; self-motivated, self-directed, dependable self-starter.
  • Strong leadership skills, proven decision making, detail oriented, critical thinking, strong problem-solving, conflict management and cross-functional collaboration skills.
  • Ability to vision, analyze, plan, communicate, present and execute in a rapid, growth oriented and very detailed company.
  • Requires highly developed quantitative analytical and broad communication skills, including ability to convey complex messages in written and verbal forms.

 

The budgeted range starts at $145,300 - $185,870 + annual bonus + equity.  Actual pay will be adjusted based on experience.
