Job Summary:

Reporting to the Senior Director of Supply Chain and Inventory Management, the Director of Merchandise Planning and Inventory Management directs and develops merchandising plans and inventory strategies to achieve VRR’s financial objectives. This role leads and develops the team responsible for merchandise plans, Open to Buy, and the corresponding pricing, inventory flow, and replenishment strategy. This leader also creates tools, reporting visibility, and process roadmaps to support top-down product strategies and financial plans, including sales, margin, and inventory. The Director of Merchandise Planning and Inventory Management partners cross-functionally to ensure alignment on business objectives that drive results and optimize retail product performance. The role actively develops, coaches, and leads the retail planning, pricing, and inventory management team to build a diverse, high-performing organization.

 

Job Specifications:

  • Starting Wage: $95,630.58 - $130,196.05 + annual bonus + equity

Job Responsibilities:

  • Oversees the development of annual and monthly forecasts for sales, margin, and inventory to achieve VRR’s financial objectives, proactively communicating results and action plans across leadership and cross-functional teams
  • Oversees the development and execution of pre-season and in-season inventory plans and strategies that support merchandising, marketing, and financial goals
  • Leads the development and execution of retail pricing strategies aligned with merchandising, marketing, and financial objectives
  • Creates and maintains KPI and business reporting to provide high-level analytics and fact-based insights for the retail organization
  • Builds, cultivates, and leads a high-performing, engaged, and effective Planning & Inventory Management organization
  • Aligns with and supports Vail Resorts Core Values: Do Right, Be Inclusive, Drive Value, Serve Others, Have Fun, and Be Safe

 

Job Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in a related field or equivalent work experience
  • 5+ years of progressive experience overseeing planning and inventory in a retail environment
  • Demonstrates the ability to think strategically and creatively about the short- and long-term management of the business
  • Ability to collaborate with, align across, and influence cross-functional teams and senior leadership
  • Strong written, verbal, and presentation skills
  • Advanced Excel skills, including pivot tables, advanced formulas, and data manipulation

 

The expected Total Compensation for this role is $95,630.58 - $130,196.05 + annual bonus + equity. Individual compensation decisions are based on a variety of factors.
