Job Summary:

At Vail Resorts, creating an Experience of a Lifetime for a guest or employee is made possible because of data. Data driven decisions are cited, required, and trusted at all levels and operating verticals within the company. As a part of the Enterprise Data Engineering and Enablement team, this role will be on the front edge of the new era of data enablement across the enterprise.


We are actively searching for a technical expert to design, develop, analyze & test innovative data solutions. This Data Engineer will join an energetic and engaged team focused on delivering exceptional value to our business partners. As a Data Engineer, you will work collaboratively in an agile squad to design and build data pipelines & workflows, ingest, curate & provision data workflows in an on-prem and cloud-based environment, as well as own responsibility of thorough end-to-end testing.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Help advance Data Engineering operations into the future
  • Work in a dynamic and exciting environment with Scrum Masters / Project Managers, Product Owners, and team members to develop creative data-driven solutions with our ETL/ELT pipeline that meet business and technical initiatives
  • Analyze, develop and execute data integration solutions, in order to manage the information lifecycle needs of our business units.
  • Handle end-to-end development, including designing, coding, testing, and debugging during each release cycle
  • Designs and builds data workflows/pipelines, physical data schemas, extracts, data transformations, and data integrations and/or designs using ETL and API microservices
  • Support migrations to new cloud-based solutions from traditional data platforms
  • Demonstrate an open-minded and collaborative approach to creating technical solutions
  • Analyze data and technical problems to design and implement effective, flexible solutions
  • Identify and recommend appropriate continuous improvement opportunities
  • Continuously learn to maintain strong knowledge of technology enablers


Job Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in technical or business discipline or equivalent experience
  • 2+ years of data management experience implementing data solutions demonstrating depth of technical understanding within a specific discipline(s)/technology(s)
  • Must be proactive and self-driven, demonstrated initiative and be a logical thinker.
  • Extensive understanding of data engineering concepts and processes, such as pipelines, iterative development, and deployments
  • Strong leadership, communication, collaboration skills with a track record of taking solution ownership
  • Demonstrated active pursuit of optimizing data, process and tools, testing frameworks & practices.



  • 2+ years’ experience developing, deploying and supporting high-quality, fault-tolerant data pipelines (leveraging distributed, data movement technologies and approaches, including but not limited to ETL and streaming ingestion and processing)
  • 2 or more years’ experience utilizing scripting languages (Python, Shell, etc.)
  • 2 or more years’ experience in SQL development and/or NoSQL databases
  • 1 or more years’ experience with cloud-based data offerings (ex. Microsoft Azure, Databricks, Snowflake)
  • Experience with ETL/ELT Tools (ex. Data Factory, Matillion, Data Build Tool)
  • 1 or more years of experience working with Agile Development Methodologies


The expected pay range is $82,800 - $106,425.  This is the pay range we reasonably expect to pay for this position. Individual compensation decisions are based on a variety of factors.
