Job Summary:

This position is a manager who will lead our Business Analyst practice as part of our exciting and growing Enterprise Data IT Team. This is an excellent opportunity to lead a team of analysts who are instrumental in delivering strategic projects and support within Vail Resorts. This manager is driven, curious, collaborative, organized, excellent at managing risk, and diligent in prioritizing work. Their scope will include both people management and analyst work on 1-2 significant programs.

 

Superior leadership qualities, excellent written and verbal communication skills, and SDLC delivery aptitude are a requirement for this important technology leadership role. This position works closely with other application and development managers in a highly collaborative environment and reports to the Director of Enterprise Data Engineering & Enablement (EDEE) Program Management.

Job Responsibilities

  • Provide direction, collaboration, and mentoring to a team of business analysts, and empower the team to drive the day-to-day delivery and execute their roadmaps.
  • Guide the team as they gather requirements, support design and development, and document system capabilities and enhancements.
  • Work to mature the BA discipline within the SDLC framework and processes.
  • Ensure proper requirements are identified, effective user stories are created, test plans are coordinated, and work is planned in a logical and efficient manner to deliver solutions that support business requirements.
  • Identify professional development opportunities for all direct reports and support their career growth. Create goals, deliver performance reviews, hold regular 1:1s with direct reports, and provide feedback.
  • Develop and maintain a high-performing, motivated, and engaged team.
  • Connect to build strong relationships with business partners, IT partners, and stakeholders to ensure alignment and proper prioritization.
  • Manage contracts, POs, invoices, and timekeeping for all team members.
  • Collaborate with business partners to define and document business requirements.
  • Work with solution architects to convert approved business requirements into functional and technical specifications.

 

Job Requirements

  • Ability to influence stakeholders and work closely with them to determine acceptable solutions
  • Ability to communicate with various levels (including Director, Senior Director, and VP) within IT and with business partners
  • Excellent customer service skills with a demonstrated customer-focused, service-first attitude
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills; comfortable translating between technical and non-technical team members 
  • Robust documentation skills and attention to detail
  • Experience with SDLC processes across waterfall and agile methodologies and ticketing systems such as Jira
  • Strong SQL skills
  • Comfortable with Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook
  • 5+ years of demonstrated business analysis experience, delivering cross-functional projects AND Bachelor’s degree in Information Systems, Computer Science or related concentration; OR 7+ years of demonstrated business analysis experience
  • 2+ years of direct people management experience

 

 Preferred 

  • Experience with Cloud Tools and Data platforms (Azure, Databricks, Snowflake)
  • Experience with Analytics Tools (Tableau, Snowflake, Adobe Analytics)
  • Advanced Excel and Python skills
  • Awareness of Financial Planning Tools (Planful), ERP/Procurement Tools (Oracle PeopleSoft, Coupa, Concur), and Customer Data and Email Marketing applications (Amperity)
  • Experience managing contractors and across global time zones

 

The expected Total Compensation for this role is $116,050 - $140,000 + annual bonus. Individual compensation decisions are based on a variety of factors.

Vail Resorts offers a ‘Hybrid’ work environment where employees living within 50 miles of the Broomfield office work on-site Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday and have flexibility to work off-site on Mondays and Fridays.  Employees living outside of a commutable distance can work remotely from British Columbia, Washington D.C., and the 16 U.S. states* in which we currently operate.
