Job Summary:

The Director, New Business Development, Strategic Alliance reports to the Senior Director of Strategic Alliance and may have the responsibility of managing a direct report. The Director is responsible for overseeing the creation and development of strategic corporate partnerships for Vail Resorts’ 42 global ski resorts and key lines of business to deliver the company’s partnership revenue targets, with a primary focus on North America partnerships. The Director focuses on creating and cultivating corporate partnerships with category-leading global brands. This role will connect directly with brand decision makers on a regular basis to solicit new partnership engagements. These partnerships will drive and amplify the brand affinity of our 42 resorts and corporate partners alike, with a key focus on enhancing the guest experience.

 

Job Specifications: 

  • Starting Wage: $140,000 - $179,000 + annual bonus + equity

The ideal candidate has experience in:

  • Maintaining strong relationships with external and internal cross-functional partners
  • Leading within a complex matrixed environment to drive business results
  • Improving the overall partnership sales, pipeline and category process and approach
  • Benchmarking and establishing innovative partnership assets to deliver value
  • Being comfortable working independently, owning a pipeline, and driving toward ambitious revenue targets limited supervision
  • Strong background in travel, hospitality, or outdoors industry with a wide network of brand contacts nationally


Job Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for prospecting, pursuing, and developing new marketing partnerships for Vail Resorts
  • Lead all aspects of corporate partnership development to include proposal and presentation writing, negotiation, and outlining execution of deliverables
  • Construct a brand prospect pipeline and creative outreach plan (via targeting and qualifying leads through calls and referrals) for potential opportunities with regional, national, and international companies
  • Leverage network, relationships, and cold outreach to identify potential new partnerships
  • Assists in asset identification and creation and provides leadership direction in the creation of sales materials
  • Create comprehensive asset and impression valuations for all partnership deliverables across the portfolio of resorts and other relevant lines of business (retail, hospitality, F&B, etc.)
  • Build and support development of partnership sales presentations, recaps, and other key presentations to highlight value to prospects
  • Communicate with external and internal executives and stakeholders to coordinate meetings and other touchpoints throughout the sales process
  • Identify opportunities within internal lines of businesses to find synergy in product integration and sourcing
  • Effectively maintain reporting, sales and prospecting updates
  • Manage the Strategic Alliance revenue and expense budgets with rigorous discipline to deliver budgeted contribution
  • Takes accountability in reaching individual and team budgets on an annual basis
  • Accountable for contractual (legal) compliance for respective partnerships under management.
  • Oversee and lead a New Business Development Manager
  • Limited travel as required
  • Other duties as assigned

 

Job Qualifications:

  • 6+ years of Sponsorship, Sales, or New Business Development experience
  • Strong experience in leading and developing sales teams
  • Strong experience in maintaining revenue and expense budgets with rigorous attention to detail
  • Microsoft Office experience to include Excel, PowerPoint and Word
  • Excellent communications skills
  • Professional presentation and public speaking skills
  • College degree and/or comparable years in business management or related discipline preferred

 

The expected Total Compensation for this role is $140,000 - $179,000 + annual bonus + equity. Individual compensation decisions are based on a variety of factors.

Vail Resorts offers a ‘Hybrid’ work environment for Broomfield-based roles where employees must live within 50 miles of the Broomfield office and work on-site Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday and have flexibility to work off-site on Mondays and Fridays.
