Job Summary:

The Vail Transportation Compliance (VTC) Manager leads the integration and implementation of transportation requirements as a function of the legal department in the United States. The VTC Manager will plan, oversee and document all aspects of VTC programs and will work closely with leadership, resort operations and various internal best practice groups to create, build, implement and sustain key company initiatives to achieve world-class performance. The VTC Manager will collaborate cross functionally to ensure programs are properly understood, dynamically applied, on-schedule and within budget at the corporate and local levels. The focus of this position is to support compliance with federal, state and local regulations in all aspects of on/off-road driver and vehicle operations, including guest-facing elements.


Job Responsibilities:

  • Ensure that formal, repeatable and documented means to comply are established in each US location under federal/state/local DOT rules, and support centralized and decentralized implementation as corporate/local circumstances change (e.g., personnel; systems/tools; rules/requirements; vehicle types/uses; operational activities; operating footprint).
  • Develop a deep understanding of core business needs, and adjust implementation strategy accordingly and as needed.
  • Use historic, current and predictive metrics to inform adjustments/decisions.
  • Accountable for department implementation of company programs, systems and tools, and responsible to support local administrators for hiring/qualifications, training and compliance for driver and vehicle operations teams.
  • Develop and sustain risk reduction plans for employees and guest-facing transportation initiatives across all US properties.
  • Serve as the company vehicle incident oversight lead to identify significant events, analyze trends and liaise with affected teams to improve transportation safety performance (e.g., FMCSA CSA/BASICS and internal metrics).
  • Conduct systematic compliance assessments using key internal and third party tools to determine strengths and weaknesses, and implement corrective actions with local operations teams, including with the internal audit department.
  • Coordinate with VTC leadership on NON/NOV/inspection/investigation events as a function of this local team support role.
  • Prepare management summary reports of transportation safety performance (CMV & non-CMV operations).
  • Serve as the VTC lead responsible to apply an International Standards Organization (ISO) based risk management approach to transportation programs and operations.
  • Support the company’s environmental, health and safety, security and sustainability (EHSS&S) strategies to achieve world-class transportation performance.
  • Support the operations teams to drive, improve and maintain performance within the EHSS&S of transportation compliance.
  • Other duties as assigned


Job Qualifications:

  • B.A. or B.S. Degree or equivalent
  • Minimum of 5-years related work experience
  • Valid Driver License w/ Excellent Motor Vehicle Record
  • Advanced computer skills, MS Office Suite, database management
  • Advanced Proficiency in English
  • Ability to manage multiple projects
  • Strong organizational & communication skills
  • Ability to collaborate virtually & in-person 
  • Business travel in USA required (~ 25%)
  • Must live within commuting distance of Broomfield, CO office
  • Must pass Pre-employment Background, MVR and TSA/Security checks
  • Knowledge of FMCSA or State DOT regulations


The budgeted range starts at $60,000 - $80,000 + annual bonus.  Actual pay will be adjusted based on experience.
