Job Description: 

The Strategic Pricing Analyst owns and manages the existing tactical pricing infrastructure for Lift, Season Pass (Epic Pass), and ancillary service (e.g. Ski School) products! This role will support cross-functional initiatives including: managing live pricing decks, pricing inputs, pricing changes, and website pricing uploads, pricing research, revenue forecasting/modeling, reporting, competitive intelligence, go-to market plans, price testing, and the analysis and implementation of new strategic programs and products. The Strategic Pricing Analyst should have a proven track record as a high potential candidate by demonstrating: drive, ambition, business acumen, and emotional intelligence!

 

This role sits on the Strategic Pricing team, which has ownership of analysis, insights, and strategy for key pricing decisions including lift ticket and season pass products. In this role, you will be required to analyze and manage large data sets and provide insights with actionable and concise recommendations. You will also be expected to demonstrate learning agility and the drive to take on new topics or projects. The Pricing team is part of the larger Enterprise Analytics organization, which has a mission to use Vail Resorts’ proprietary guest data to generate measurable insights that unlock value for the business. The Enterprise Analytics organization advises insight-driven strategic decision-making across the entire enterprise.

Job Responsibilities:

  • [Strategy Development] Own, manage and drive pricing strategies that support key business objectives across Paid Lift, Season Pass, Ski and Ride School, Ancillary and more. This includes designing and implementing pricing tests to assess revenue opportunities, track performance, and recommend long-term actions based on results. Develop pricing strategies that can be utilized across the business, ensuring an Enterprise minded approach. Partner with stakeholders in Finance, Marketing, and Resorts to produce revenue forecasts. This also includes executing those strategies by developing and maintaining tactical pricing files that drive our point-of-sale systems
  •  [Analysis & Reporting] Manage the creation, development, and distribution of standardized reporting related to pricing, including price/mix analysis, benchmarking, portfolio analysis, profitability, macroeconomic trends and competitive intelligence.
  •  [Presentation] Communicate conclusions, implications, and recommendations of analyses in a clear, concise fashion; advise and influence cross-functional stakeholders to drive more effective marketing strategies and decisions. 
  •  [Prioritization] Prioritize projects to balance the support of broad initiatives, recurrent reporting and proactive analysis with the direct requests of the marketing team. Evaluate the potential impact of analysis and effectively manage timeline communication and expectations.
  • [Tool & Technique Optimization] Continuously develop professionally and operationally, refining research methodologies, tools, and processes to improve the accuracy, efficiency, and relevance of insights delivered
  • [Cross-Functional Collaboration] Work closely with various teams to align research outcomes with strategic initiatives
  • [Upward & Peer Management] Proactively update manager regarding own work, be willing to receive and provide team feedback, and demonstrate ability to review and enhance the work of others

Job Requirements:

  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in Business, Economics, Statistics, Math, Analytics, or a related field 
  • Very strong quantitative and analytical skills with demonstrated success in analytical or financial roles 
  • Some experience wrangling, querying, curating, and deriving insights from large datasets 
    • Strength in using Excel as a data analysis tool, and leveraging Microsoft 365 tools in general 
    • Advanced skills with MS Office (Excel, PowerPoint)
  • Attention to detail and extreme accuracy working with large datasets, experience developing tools for streamlined analysis, and crafting output that succinctly summarize sophisticated concepts.
  • Demonstrated strength in written and verbal communication, adjusting message to audience 
  • Excellent interpersonal and relationship management skills, with the ability to communicate effectively  
  • Strong organization and time management skills. Ability to handle multiple projects simultaneously and coordinate across multiple functions within an organization 

 

Preferred:

  • 2-4 years previous experience in analytics, consulting, finance, revenue management, or other similar field
  • Knowledge of ski industry-specific trends and an interest in staying updated on ski market trends, competitive landscape, etc. 
  • Familiarity with other data processing programs, notably Alteryx, is a plus.
  • Experience with analytic tools/software such as SQL, Snowflake, or other similar programs is a plus
  • Experience with data visualization and dashboard development (Tableau or similar) 

 

The expected Total Compensation for this role is $67,688.00 - $96,697.00. Individual compensation decisions are based on a variety of factors.

Vail Resorts offers a ‘Hybrid’ work environment for Broomfield-based roles where employees must live within 50 miles of the Broomfield office and work on-site Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday and have flexibility to work off-site on Mondays and Fridays.
